Used to eat Apple Pan once a month.  Love busy lunch time counter action.
Miss simple lunch like that in LA.  Loved a dinner at Johnnies Pastrami down the road a bit for the same reason.
    Glad you got to enjoy!
I loved it. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular! It was just a short trip down there, but I made the most of my time and ate at some good spots. In n Out. A lot of people love to say that it's overrated, and maybe it’s that I just dont have it as often, living in Seattle and all, but it tasted just as good as ever. I went with my usual: A Double Double animal style, a neopolitan shake, and well done fries. If you've never asked for your fries well done, youre missing out at in n out. Underrated item.

Anyways, I also went to Tommy's and had a chili burger.

I ate chinese chicken salad and potstickers at Chin Chin.

I had the bacon burrito dog at Pinks, which is two hot dogs, chili, bacon, cheese, and onion wrapped in a flour tortilla.

I finished off the trip with breakfast at Pann's. You would recognize Pann's as the diner that Vin Diesel is at in xXx. I noticed lots of people getting the chicken and waffles, so I followed suit. It was a great way to end the trip.

On an un food related topic. People are loving this PJ hat. I was waiting for an uber in Hollywood and some dude literally yelled “Nice PJ hat!” From the far lane. I bet he’s on this board too because he even clocked it with my back turned!

    Excellent.
Not an In N Out burger fan but my family all love.
    Love me some Pann.
Pinks and Tommy's are late night musts for soaking up the booze.
Rampart Tommy's was a little sketch at night.

    Good times.

In-n-out is good, but it does not live up to the hype IMHO. Even well done, the fries are terrible. Five guys is so much better. I would love to try the other places, but they are in LA, a place I avoid at all costs.  ;)

This is the comment that I hear a lot and don't understand. Taste is subjective. I get that for sure. I don't think that being overhyped is really the fault of the restaurant. Maybe its because I grew up in CA, but any hype never affected me one way or the other. In-n-Out is like McDonalds to me, in that when I order, i know exactly what I am getting. Nothing more nothing less. Don't get me wrong, I love some Five Guys. There is one near my house. But for the price point, I think that In-N-Out is a better value. Like, at Five Guys here in Seattle, a Cheeseburger, little fries, and a vanilla shake costs $28.32..more if you add a tip. A double double, fries, shake, and a coke cost me like $17 total at In-N-Out. For fast food it's hard to beat that. And that's what it really comes down to for me. In-n-out makes consistently good food at an affordable price.

I still don't think I'll ever understand the fry hate though. Especially well done. When they are well done, they remind me of these:

No doubt, Five Guys is pricey. In-N-Out is good for fast food and a better value, for sure. It is so hyped outside the states/regions that have them (like here in NY). Almost impossible to live up to. Burgers are great when you compare them to Mickey Ds. Almost anything is better than Mickey Ds. Love me some Andy Capp Hot Fries! Have not had them in years. And I do not tip unless I receive table service!

I imagine its similar to me trying Shake Shack in NYC the first time. I think it was impossible to live up to the hype, so I left thinking it was pretty overrated.

All fast food is pricey. Right? All restaurants are out of control. Bacon and eggs for the wife and I, some coffee, $40?

    It makes me crazy.

In n out is consistent… and I feel less greasy than five guys. Five guys fries are good, but again might as well shoot grease into your veins

I like in n out buns anyway have a lil crunch and the whole California ambiance I find cool… I love California

On the topics of Five Guys. What is your go-to burger?
Last few times I’ve ordered a bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, grilled jalapeño, mayo, and bbq sauce.

I love Shake Shack. The original one in Madison Square Park is still my favorite and it is still a shack. But one opened walking distance to my apartment a few years  ago. I know they are a big chain now so the quality may not be consistent.

Although some fries with butter and sour cream works. I don't get the ketchup thing. You certainly arent putting ketchup on a baked potato.

Single patty,  cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle.

    Agree on cost.
Close to $50 for family lunch.  Wtf?
Gimme a good Sammie from a local deli for $10 each.  Enjoy more and don't get the grease.
