This came today from Sweetwater. I was looking for a special, lifetime/keeper guitar to commemorate my dad who just passed and had been looking to get a Les Paul for a while as all my other electrics are Fender so I went for it. So far, it's pretty awesome right out of the box!

Cool guitar! Condolences about losing your dad. That LP is a good way to commemorate him.

Very nice. The very first guitar I ever owned was a used Les Paul Custom that my dad bought me. We went into the store and I was just hoping for a Squire like I played at my buddy's house. I picked up the Les Paul and was blown away by the difference. I said it was too expensive, but my dad decided to buy it for me. I will always cherish that guitar.

  • Thanks for the kind words everyone. I still remember when he took me to purchase my first electric guitar which I had saved up money for ... it was 31 years ago and I went and bought a Made in Mexico, 3 Color Sunburst Standard Strat. I still have that guitar though it doesn't get played anymore. Maybe a project to overhaul it for another day!

  • The Les Paul I had originally purchased a few weeks back unfortunately had a flaw in it's neck binding that bothered me considering the price range of the guitar and I sent it back for a refund.

I was very lucky though to come across this incredible Green Lemon Burst from another retailer. It checks all the boxes for me in terms of a great burst and a beautiful top. On top of that, it plays and sounds great!

Congrats on the awesome guitar and the anniversary. I've really enjoyed my McCready Strat in the time I've owned it so I'm pretty sure you will love yours!

I go through phases with guitars. Sometimes I might not touch a Strat for like, 6 months. Then one day I'll pick it up and if feels like coming home. Kind of rekindles my interest in it.

That's probably why I keep a few types of guitars around. It's nice to be able to change things up a little sometimes.
