I was at Sweetwater's showroom yesterday but didn't Epi SJ200 on display ... they had the Gibson version , but with tax it would be around $6K. Crazy expensive. I didn't dare touch it.I did play a Martin 000-15M and really liked the neck. I couldn't hear a big difference between the more expensive 000-18.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Sounds like an awesome experience at Sweetwater! Thinking about driving two hours to do the Martin factory tour, anybody ever take this tour? Worth it?I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

I have not done a tour of Martin factory, but I would if it was several hours away. I picture it more of an old school operation with magical elves making the guitars.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

I've done the Martin factory tour a few times and it's always been worthwhile. The museum is also very cool to spend some time in. I'd definitely recommend it if you are nearby.0

My newest guitar in the last post. 1991 Martin D-35. I got it as a surprise gift. Someone saw it at a fundraiser auction for $1,400 and thought I would like it. Only one minor ding, 34 year old frets that won't need replacing for a while but show the wear, and that's it. Plays nice, intonation is good, no buzzing, no fret sprout, etc.... I'm excited to get some new strings on it. I'm keeping it at the office for my nights and weekends guitar when I get that itch to play for a minute.
The price was pretty good for being used. Probably got it for 300-500 less than what it would likely have sold for on Reverb. A good reminder that a new guitar depreciates after you leave the store and why not get a great sounding used guitar of the same model for 50-60% of the new cost.Post edited by bootlegger10 on0 -

i prefer to get used guitars. i don't gig as much as i used to so it takes me forever to break in new guitars. i like the feel of guitars that are already broken in.
a 34 year old martin for $1400 is a hell of a buy."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Not mine but one of the kids that works for me shows me this picture. His dad gave it to him. Bought it off the guy himself. This is a mid 80’s JEM guitar made by Joe Despagni here on Long Island. This was the prerequisite to the monkey grip and deal with Ibanez. It’s funny that this kid has a 20k guitar that he jams on.Pretty cool piece of history.0
