What exactly are Democrats protesting on the streets? What we are seeing is directly relating to Democratic policy on immigration over the last 10 years.
Correct and it was great policy. We should stand up for it. More immigrants. More workers. More people shopping in local communities and paying taxes.
And virtually all illegal aliens receive free medical care, simply by virtue of showing up at our hospital emergency rooms. By law, they cannot be turned away without care. So, be it a common cold, a broken leg or the birth of an anchor baby, illegals are receiving a benefit that most Americans don't - free medical care. Even those of us on Medicare, which we have paid for our entire working lives, is no longer free (as we were promised all those years). We are charged $174.70 per month and, the coverage is so lousy that we must also buy a supplemental medical insurance policy. Mine costs me another $186.00 per month.
Imagine telling on yourself that you don’t want to be kind to people. Especially like Jesus said to
And lying about the "lousy coverage"....as someone dealing with two parents with large medical expenses that's just absolutely false

Yeah, let's be nice to the rioters and they'll quit stealing and robbing. The irony is, many of these small business owners being looted are indeed legal immigrants themselves, who came here to work hard and build a better life. How dare they do it the legal way!
no one is saying that. Protest peacefully. Arrest those breaking the law. Like so many things discussed in these forums, the minority doesn’t represent the majority. So stop painting things as such. It’s disingenuous and it only makes you and your word look bad.

With so many "Big Beautiful Birthday" parties celebrating President Trump's 79th birthday this Saturday, it's hard to decide which to attend. However, if the rioting and looting in L.A. aren't quelled soon, I may need to head down to L.A. to assist older relatives so, maybe there.
What exactly are Democrats protesting on the streets? What we are seeing is directly relating to Democratic policy on immigration over the last 10 years. We had our chance and blew it. Believe it or not right before these protest started. Trump had a solid approval rating on immigration. We had an election, the voters judged Democrats on their record of immigration, and Democrats lost. These protests are more of the same and could end up blowing up as usual in Democrat‘s faces.
I am not saying that I support his immigration policy. But I know in order to have power you need to win elections and in order to do that you need to reach moderate voters. 54% tells us that the moderates are not with us. We need a new strategy, because the old politics from his first term are not working regarding immigration.
“ CBS News/YouGov poll conducted June 4–6 found that 54 percent of Americans approve of Trump's deportation policy—higher than his approval ratings on the economy (42 percent) or inflation (39 percent). The poll was completed just days before the president deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles on June 8, following escalating protests.
You have to factor in that his approval is higher with people who are less informed. The question to ask is do you approve of an immigration policy that’s been deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court?

Yes. He was ousted because he wasn’t happy with the status quo which the DNC was fine with maintaining.. He wanted to promote fighters, new PsOV and fresh blood.
Current democratic thought is let Trump sink himself and they’ll come crawling back. Which, sure, is what may happen. But it means nothing will get better for people.
yep. the dems are supposed to be the party of ideas, but they keep the young people down. that to me is inexcusable.
a third, more progressive party is going to get formed and leave the dems in the dust. and the dems will deserve it.
While I love this idea, a viable third party will never happen. Look how Republicans just bent over for Trumpism. Dems will do the same thing to keep progressives. I mean Joe even gave Bernie a big voice in the party in 2020 and that’s why college loan forgiveness was a big issue for Joe.
I'm sorry, I don't think the Vice Chair of the DNC should be supporting the primar(ing) of their own party. Good riddance to him. The downside was worse than the upside.

I don’t know enough about the primary system to comment, but I think he has a bright future as a vocal progressive in politics.

That's fine, be a voice or grass roots organizer. But being in leadership means you don't pick winners and losers, and you don't run candidates against your own field. That's just bad for the party.

I definitely defer to your expertise on this.
However, don’t you think the party needs a shakeup?

I guess it depends on what you mean by that. Sure a shakeup might be good, but an executive putting their thumb (or money) on the scale and picking who is supported and who is not, is not appropriate for that position. The DNC as an organization should allow the people and affiliated groups vie for the message and candidates who represent the party. It should not be coming from the Vice Chairman. His job was to support (or be neutral) all of the candidates and once they are chosen, put the full weight of the party apparatus (including fund raising) behind the candidate that was chosen in the primary.

So the Democrats are to blame for immigration for the 4 years from 2017-2021 when your boy DJT was in office? Got it.

It was a great policy for how to lose an election?
It was a great policy to lose support amongst most every demo, including those of the same demo as those that come here illegally?
Bidens border policy was a mess, and it likely wasn't even his policy.

Maybe there is a reason so many Democrats joined with the Rs on this issue? Just maybe? Definitely maybe?
It was a great policy for how to lose an election?
It was a great policy to lose support amongst most every demo, including those of the same demo as those that come here illegally?
Bidens border policy was a mess, and it likely wasn't even his policy.
My next post will address that perhaps.
