I really enjoyed it 🤷♂️0

Yeah. Neil is funny and it was nice seeing his life before and after a concert. But all of that could have been a 10 min snippet youtube video. And why did Darryl keep stuff like people talking to Her while she was filming?curmudgeoness said:I'd have to agree. The filmmaking was terrible. And it needed an editor. And some indication of who the various people were, and where they were, and... it was just not a good movie.
And honestly. I LOVE Neil but not like the songs sounded peak either… and it didn’t help the songs it was shot so lifeless.

Yes -- I was stunned by the "two old dudes stuck in traffic" opening, but I assumed concert footage would be the payoff. But the concert footage was *bad* -- fixed shots of the blurry stage from a distance, no shots of audience, footage of Neil was grainy and focused squarely on his guitar/belly (his head sometimes not even in the frame).

This reminds me of when he released the album in the phone booth. Cool concept but completely botched. No offense Neil and Jack White lolsevered hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

Sounds like I didn't miss much (but then, being old myself, I might have had lower expectations and might have liked it a bit more than some). But what about the soundtrack LP? The few reviews I've read make it sound interesting.

I finally got around to picking up Oceanside Countryside on vinyl. It’s the first time in years I haven’t either preordered a Neil record or gone out on release day. To be honest, I’ll probably never play it, and it felt like an unnecessary purchase. It’s not an era of his that I particularly enjoy, and how many copies of Pocahontas do you actually need?
I’ll get around to picking up Coastal eventually, but I’m in no rush while I can stream it on NYA.“Do not postpone happiness”

Having said that, it looks like the vinyl production has stopped for a while. It’ll be interesting to see what the ‘errors’ are…

Interesting. Played the record through a few times today and didn’t notice any obvious problems.0

That's great, thanks.ekwipt said:

I opted not to get that one. It's not my favorite era either. Some of those songs are fine, and I do now and then pull out the LPs that I have that cover that period and listen to a side or two, but not often and I don't need more.goldrush said:I finally got around to picking up Oceanside Countryside on vinyl. I haven’t listened to it yet, but someone in one of the FB groups said there was singing and harmonica at the same time on one of the songs, and wondered if that was what Neil was referring to.ekwipt said:Interesting. Well, lol, let's put it this way-- I can barely remember what it sounds like.

Ah yes this is obvious now on I Am A Child. Not sure I would’ve ever picked up on that without being told.goldrush said:

Just heard Gene Simmons talk about calling Neil (or his people) trying to get him on the KISS tribute album in the 90s. Hehe."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

Never fun seeing artists glued to the text (counting Eddie too). But i understand you don't have the lyrics to Ordinary People (Chrome Dreams 2 right?) in the back of your head

But this and Neil sounds great (?)Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
I have never heard of Jonathan Demme doing a this Neil-film. What is this? Is it worth checking out?
