If it’s self determination they want, this is where the fight should be. Instead they weakened and ended the Biden presidency

This treatment seems a little worse than Marco Rubio ..

Hamas operatives kidnapped, tortured, and executed a 22-year-old Palestinian man, Oday Nasser Al Rabay, after he participated in demonstrations against the group in Gaza last week, according to his family on Sunday.

Rabay’s body was left outside his family home over the weekend, prompting dozens of mourners to attend his funeral procession on Saturday. Video footage showed mourners chanting, “Hamas out!”

The incident marks the first reported killing directly linked to the recent anti-Hamas protests, which erupted across Gaza for three consecutive days last week. Demonstrators have called openly for Hamas to cease hostilities with Israel and end its authoritarian rule over the coastal enclave.

Protests ceased over the weekend, reportedly due to intimidation and threats by Hamas operatives. A Gazan activist currently residing in Turkey, responsible for disseminating videos of the protests, recently reported receiving direct threats from senior Hamas officials.

Hamas has publicly claimed the recent protests were directed against Israel, despite video evidence and eyewitness accounts showing the crowds explicitly targeting the Gaza-ruling terror group.

According to Israeli public broadcaster Kan, Hamas faces difficulty suppressing demonstrations forcefully due to renewed Israeli military operations that target openly visible operatives. Israeli officials restarted military activities in Gaza on March 18, halting a previously established ceasefire and hostage release arrangement.

Hamas previously freed 33 hostages—women, children, civilian men over 50, and certain “humanitarian cases”—during a 42-day ceasefire phase that ended March 2. This release was part of a hostage-exchange deal, under which Israel freed about 1,900 Palestinian prisoners

Right or wrong, as a matter of opinion, if a government agency sets forth a factual basis for a determination, it is very difficult for that decision to be overturned in court. US agencies are granted deference and discretion if they have even a shred of a factual basis for their determination. Even if that factual basis is open to different interpretations. If a determination is overturned, the government usually gets a chance to revise their findings. This applies to many agencies. Agency decisions do get overturned if a court finds they acted in a way that is arbitrary and capricious. But that is the exception rather than the rule.

I think that decision definitely gave the courts more power. But I do think that that the courts will still rely on agency interpretations in most cases. It is too early to tell how far that decision will reach.

Because it's beside the point. Only a monster would think that him being possibly in the US illegally (you or I don't know) is an excuse for his treatment. It's called empathy, try it.

I can't take anything you have to say seriously. You bullshit constantly.

But keep fighting the good fight against us liberals on this cesspool forum. That's where the real battle is. Definitely not the authoritarianism from your President.

It sounds like bs because your ideas exist in fantasyland. You supported a commenter who responded  to about ten comments about Hamas by bringing up Venezuela.

Not for one syllable did I mention the terrible treatment of detainees above, I’ve spoken against it in the past and you are free to search for that.

what I was discussing regarding the cascading degradation of liberalism is the right of the US govt to revoke visas and green cards of those supporting terrorism.

thats not only 100% true, I’ve posted the comments of a liberal lawyer who agrees with americas right to do that

Do you equate all Palestinians with Hamas?

    yes or no.

previous statements leave a strong impression.

Interesting. You keep accusing everyone on this board who support Palestinians’ right to life/land as “pro war”, which is baseless and stupid.

You have repeatedly stated Palestinians elected hamas, insinuating they get what they deserve.

That is clearly pro-genocide. And you think DEI is racist against white people.

Seems to be pattern of having issues with brown people.

So your big attack is I am “suggesting or hinting” something…lol.

pointing  out Hamas is their leadership is not telling them they get what they deserve. That is a dead wrong interpretation of my recent comments.

the pro Palestinian protests are about that place shipping their residents here as our guests and then demanding we allow their plight for self determination. That’s impossible with leadership like Hamas. That’s the point.

if your New PM flew a few thousand of your countrymen on kites into Minnesota and they killed fifteen hundred women and children there, would it be expected the US to counterattack?

Would that never happen because any Canadian PM would know the US response would be terribly lethal and your PM actually wants his people to be alive? That’s why Hamas needs to go first, because they are that bad and care that little about their people. If there’s any genocide here, it’s self genocide.

and, you also completely misunderstood my comments about DEI. I have zero issue with those of color fairly benefiting from open positions, or receiving billions in govt aide for education and training. What I do have issue with is (probably) white executives picking winners and losers by any means other than merit, if that’s what they are telling the public they are doing.

So apparently maga vatnik nazis are now shooting Catholic Priests

The man charged in the shooting death of a Catholic priest in rural Kansas previously wrote letters that appeared in the local newspaper, including one in which he said, "maybe if we just follow Donald Trump's example we’ll 'make the Church great again.

Every security clearance held by someone at the University of Pennsylvania has now apparently been suspended because the current occupant of the Oval Office is angry at a public critic named Miles Taylor who published an op-ed and book under the pseudonym “Anonymous” while in the first T***p administration. (Taylor Is apparently a lecturer in the Political Science department.)

Good luck to all the cherubs going off to college in the fall. The effects of these attacks on higher education won’t be apparent for 4-5 years but there’s always a short future in being cannon fodder. Boy, will those chickens come home to roost.

I doubt it. The campus actions are only fueling resentment against the cause. At least from my first hand experience. If the chickens come home to roost it will not be on the side of these protesters or any acts of retaliation. Higher education is not going away. It has survived many controversies like segregation, Vietnam, no nukes, and civil rights. And those involved the plight of US citizens. I think you might be overestimating how much the average american cares about fighting in the middle east. The politicians may be driven by money, but ask your buddy down the road his opinion on the conflict. He probably has no answer.

Guess you haven’t been paying attention to the massive withholding or cuts of federal funding to higher education for perceived antisemitism? Do you think withholding $1B from a university’s operating budget won’t have an impact? The tanking of the stock market won’t impact endowments and not affect operating budgets? And surely the snatching of fellow students off the streets, harassing faculty, shutting down opposing points of view or programs of study couldn’t possibly have an impact or effect on the quality of education provided either, right? What kind of bubble do you live in?

I look forward to when all the top businesses, law firms and industry are staffed with graduates of Liberty University. Or universities that have caved to the demands of the white Christian nationalist authoritarian agenda. Might want to keep that duel citizenship up to date. It will take years, maybe decades to defund the DOE. Regardless of the reasons. You cannot undo that with a swipe of a pen. I think most government agencies could probably use more efficiency. Much of what Trump does is smoke and mirrors. Hence the tariff roll back. Yeah Liberty was a failed business attempt, but far from the worst I have experienced from New York businessmen. He made money and paid his penalties when he got called out.  And yes, I do live in a bubble. 100% privileged white male American. I am not in denial about that. But it is not by accident. A bubble where Bill Clinton lives down the street and my kids get one of the best public educations in the country. It is like the old Sam Kinison joke, we have deserts, we just do not live there. Move to the water! You can be whatever you want here if you get here properly, and even improperly. Maybe take advantage of that.

It's a metaphor. 90% of people with valid visas, and even a decent percentage of illegals have no issue. Be radical, expire your visa, ignore our rules, try to game our system, and do not be surprised if you are detained or thrown out. It is not complicated. You can speak your piece in a respectful manner. Otherwise, get the fuck out. I do not care if it is Israel, Palestine, Tibet, or the Ukraine. It is about being respectful of the country that affords you the right to say something.

You keep harping on immigrants or those on student visas. I’m pointing out that US citizens are being silenced. Wow, your bubble is impenetrable.

Did COOTWH start Liberty University and is that the metaphor of which you speak?

Or was your metaphor Sam’s joke or was it the reference to being able to do whatever you want in ‘Murica?

And regarding the DOE, I’m assuming you mean Education and not Energy, they’ve already had half their staff let go. Good luck if you need any help in any way, shape or form with student loans. I assume your bubble has enough cash on hand so you won’t need their services. But is that true of every student who attends the same school as your kid(s)?

Doesn’t impact me so who gives a shit, eh?

Hope your kids are looking into going into manufacturing.

Perceived? You know when and where there was such an abundance of denialism?

I’d make sure my visas are up to date and I had my attorneys number handy, just in case . Not sure if the state dept examining antisemitism on internet commentary includes this page.

Yes Education. And for the most part my kids will not need loans unless they choose a very expensive private university. I have been saving for them since they were born. At my personal sacrifice. I happen to think it is a good thing if student loans are harder to get. Took me 20 years to pay mine off and that is the last thing I would wish on any kid. I never said I did not give a shit. But trying to take a position on a conflict that predates my existence is much farther down the ladder than ensuring my kids have the best possible life experience.

    Oh bother.

To the second bold, except speak out against Israeli apartheid policies and genocide of the Palestinians. And to Sam’s joke, people do live in the desert, it’s called Arizona and Nevada, Vegas specifically.

No the metaphor is that if you do not like where you live, or there is a risk of death, then move. If my neighborhood became a war zone I would get the heck out of there. I do not want my family anywhere near poor conditions and a risk of death.

Thanks for helping me to understand how we, as a nation, are where we are.
