It will cost bands and concert tours more money to cross over with their stuff. Therefore, TM and the band would have to increase their ticket prices.stones said:
I guess the politics is especially relevant if it affects any of the tour plans. Like if the tariffs would make touring Canada more difficult??bbiggs said:Shawshank quotes------->CD alphabetizing rules------->Politics
Sounds about right for the rumor thread.
they probably wouldn’t be able to keep 10c tickets under $300

I'm Canadian (among other things) living in the US and for the first time ever I added Canada stickers to my car - and really everywhere, including my office door. If you're in Raleigh and Pittsburgh, chances are you'll see my Jam mobile rolling around.#Grievance20250

By all means wear a Hip shirt! That orange idiot & his delusional sycophants don't speak for all of us. I'd shake the hand of any proud Canadian 🤝Original_Shifty said:
Yes, we're still going. I refuse to let the orange one dictate where I find joy in my life. We will be keeping a low profile and leaving anything Canadiana at home. No Tragically Hip t-shirts, No PJ t-shirts from Canadian show dates. If things get even uglier between now and then, we'll re-evaluate. Hopefully my "eh's?" don't give me away.blairs1 said:For my fellow Canadians - are you still attending shows this spring or nah?Hopeful for something this side of the border..sooner than later but not looking likely.

So hypothetically speaking, if there was to be a US/Canada run in Sept/Oct and it was being planned right now, the financial uncertainty could be a problem right? I mean tickets would go on sale 4-5 months at least before the shows and so by the time they roll around then who knows what extra financial liabilities on the band and promoters there might be??KJ228171 said:

Yeah it’s risky, plus hockey picks up around there too. Arenas could possibly not book a lot during that time either.stones said:

For people that buy merch, where is the apparel made? It should say so on the label. If it is China, Mexico or Canada it could impact costs for a US tour.0

This is why the band should do a proper U.K. tour next! No tariffs between U.K. and US and vice versastones said:

That about sums it up. Businesses hate uncertainty. They have no idea of the costs, the revenue or even demand if they price things too high in planning for a worse case scenario. If the US tanks its own economy it’s taking others with it. Discretionary spending with be the first casualty and that’s has sweeping repercussions. There won’t be a revenge spending summer like we saw in 2023 and partially in 2024. Eat, sleep and be merry for tomorrow we may be worse off.stones said:

Yeah there are. He’s not targeting the UK directly because he wants that second state visit and the pomp and circumstance of it all. They are still hit with across the board tariffs on selected industries ( ie. aluminum) like the rest of the world. The UK has a delicate balance of trying to play both sides.drfox said:

The merch is the one place where they can absorb the tariffs. It’s only a couple of bucks an item if that. The margins for merch are ridiculous.Get_Right said:For people that buy merch, where is the apparel made? It should say so on the label.
