How are we feeling this morning?

really tired. 2nd night back at work and they sent me on a 643 mile run. didnt get home til 1030 this morning.

spent the night in blissful silence just listening to the hum of the motor, tires on pavement and the wind.

    So no plan?

    Here's a starting point:

    1) dial back fake news rhetoric
    2) dial back on calling everyone a racist
    3) compromise on items like border control and foreign aid
    4) acknowledge americans as real people that you care about instead of putting foreigners first
    5) legalize weed - pretty sure they could have passed this when biden was in office - missed opp.
    6) Kick AOC and her cronies out of the party - banish them
    7) Understand the majority of americans don't want taxes and want reduced spending

You can still be the democratic party and for the people and improve things like plans to pass laws that people want like womens rights and gun control, but they need to compromise on the other areas of the ultra left agenda and be come centrists.

Hey, you may not know this so that's cool.  None of us work for the DNC.  So the fact that three people didn't come up with a plan to satisfy you doesn't exactly mean the DNC isn't thinking of something.  Most of us are just tooling around here while we eat lunch and decompressing from work, not writing strategy for the party.

    fucking slackers....

I’d say they need a visionary! The party had plenty of warning on what this president was going to do and they failed miserably

Bullshit. Harris was a candidate for 100 days, and came within under 2 percentage points. Same factors that play in 2016 and 2020 where it play here misinformation, disinformation Etc. And there are a handful of counties across two states at least that are conducting audits of the of the counting process, as it was reported there were glitches during that process. One or two counties in Pennsylvania, and Maricopa County Arizona.

Yeah I generally agree.  I am getting tired of the narrative, considering the election wasn't a blowout, certainly not by historic standards.  Yet we act like the election was 70/30.  It's a bit silly but the same overreaction took place in 2021 and everyone declared Trump dead, the GOP dead and the only chance was DeSantis.  So like every other time this happens, the D's will bounce back.  It's just the nature of politics.

On one hand, you could argue that it's pretty impressive that they went through the whole "Dementia Joe" fiasco, had 100 days with a not-particularly popular candidate, and had to overcome the most blatant partisan move of media we've ever seen* and lost what people have to remember was a close race. *Media being the new way people are reached; social media, podcasts, etc.

On the other hand, they lost to someone that left us exhausted for four years, asked Georgia to find 11,000 votes, staged a ham-handed attempted coup, and clearly fights, fights, fights for himself. A party that had its shit together would have found a way. And they shit the bed with every demographic except for black women. Everyone else was already all-in for MAGA or moved towards it.

I admit I thought things were going to be different forever way back with the Contract for America. But it ebbed and flowed. That said, here's what concerns me (in no particularly order except that the first bullet is most important):
    • The coup. Are we even going to have legitimate elections? Trump's whining about stolen elections may boil down to his insecurity but the rest of the party is playing the long game.
    • For decades being socially liberal was "cool." Casual homophobia was replaced by some acceptance in the 1990s and we eventually had gay marriage. There were periods where "I'm socially liberal and fiscally conservative" was bordering on cliche. Now being socially conservative is cool. People actually believe that being married with children is "counterculture." It's easier to scare people with "transgender" than it was with "gay." If social conservatism is cool for as long as social liberalism was, any party left of Atilla the Hun is cooked.
    • Somewhat connected, but MAGA is cool, now. Rappers, authors of seemingly inclusive books, athletes, business people, etc. etc. are all moving that way (not literally every one of them, I know), even some of Hollyweird. I know, we're not supposed to care about those people and I don't but they do serve as a bit of a social barometer at times. MAGA was the party of the white male working class and only won because of Hillary's unpopularity (another Dem fuck up). Now? It's the party of everyone.
    • The outrage machine that started with a bloviating radio jackass named Rush Limbaugh is now bigger than the wellness industry (not a fact; just a rhetorical way to make my point though perhaps it's true). If the Dems/left were able to match this it would have happened. Either Air America would have made it or something. All they have is the fact that Jon Stewart is funnier than the hundreds of people that are actually directing narrative.
    • The Billionaires. Every cycle we see campaign funding records broken. Brace yourselves for 2026. Elon might break mid-term records on his own. The billionaires see that consolidation of power is going to help them immensely. They're all bending the knee; in part out of fear of being shut down or arrested and part because of the dollar signs in their eyes.

We'll see, but this feels different. I think the wild card is what happens after Trump is gone. The anger machine is aware of his mortality. And they're figuring out how to keep MAGA where it is today (i.e., the only party that matters). Will they be able to? The voices are strong, persuasive, and able to lie without so much as being questioned....

    That would help!
I know there are a handful of outspoken democrats who are doing what they can so save democracy, but there are not enough doing enough.  Holding up little paddles and looking stone-faced during the felon's speech is not doing nearly enough (actually, it was embarrassing).  We need action and traction.

The Dims set themselves back even more after Tuesday night's embarrassing display.  Maybe they should go back to the BLM and Antifa ways of rioting, burning businesses and buildings, handing out free needles to dope heads, desecrating monuments and statues, welcoming criminal ILLEGAL immigrants into the country, extreme taxpayer waste....well, you get the picture.

Yes Americans are going to be super pissed about that, while they can't find eggs in the grocery stores, staglation all around, negative GDP growth, tariffs, higher prices and rising unemployment.  None of that matters in the face of some signs and yelling at a speech.

Just wait until all of these people who had their jobs cut last month hear about that speech.  Hell...to.....pay...

The firm reported that U.S. employers announced 172,017 layoffs for the month, up 245% from January and the highest monthly count since July 2020 during the heightened uncertainty from the Covid pandemic. In addition, it marked the highest total for the month of February since 2009 during the global financial crisis.

The problem here is that MAGA voters are so deep into the lies and deception, that no matter how badly the felon screws things up (which is, after all, one of his top priorities), most will never be able, or allow themselves, to admit they royally f'd up voting for a conman/crook/criminal as their dictator.  Many MAGA voters (and sadly as well, many defenders of Democracy) will suffer as a result of their blindly following this path to collapse, but they will continue to blame democrats.  It's a classic case of going down the rabbit hole of a lie so deep, one cannot find their way back out after it's too late.  They will be the first to whine and cry but will never see that they dug their own hole.  It's incredibly stupid and pathetic. I have no empathy or sympathy for these people.
