Kind of funny how quiet it's gotten here. Objectively, they got obliterated last night. Party was probably set back another decade. Instead of just riling up the left wingers, that's too easy and gets boring....let's ask an honest question...
What is the democratic plan to win back swing voters? They need a HARD separation from the left wing extremists that have hijacked the once great party that I used to steadfastly support and vote for.
What are their points of compromise to ever have a chance of getting back in office? The plan can't possibly be spew forth the senseless rhetoric they did during 2024....there has to be a plan right? The party used to be great. I am a 2x Obama voter, and voted against Bush 2x. Wouldn't mind being a swing voter once again but the Dems got to have a plan right? Some might say, somethings got to give?

The Dems don't have any idea what to do. It's not as simple as steering too hard into "we're not Trump."
They can't adjust to the way Americans get their information/disinformation. They don't understand why anger and frustration resonate so well in an era in which the American Dream has been replaced by mere survival. They don't seem to know what podcasts are. They don't know how to combat the bought-and-paid-for people whose voices actually matter (which I admit is a difficult one). They don't understand that people appreciate someone that does "something" even if it's bad more than someone that does nothing. And they're utterly handcuffed by the increasing popularity of MAGA after January 6, while Biden was essentially an effective if unspectacular president, and while Elon Musk becomes the biggest Kleptocrat in this country's history.
We tell third parties they need to focus on local seats, then state, then national. That's probably where the Democrats are right now. They're not a major player at this point. Assuming fair elections, they'll continue to have a third of senators and 40 percent of Reps because some states/districts will simply vote against MAGA. In the meantime, MAGA's cool. Traditional families are counterculture, which is cool. Disinformation has us believing Elon Musk cares about this country.
The party is out of its depth. It's been beaten by a much smarter and more savvy party.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

If things go as badly as they could, it'll matter but probably not as much as it would have 20 years ago. The performative outrage from the people Amagacans listen to will just turn out more nonsense. This is also why Elon said things would be bad for a while. By the way, Elon is going to pour staggering amounts of money into elections in 2026.
The Democrats will have to do more than "told you so." They'll have to a) tell us what they actually plan to do and b) find a way to get the message out.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

I'd also love it if we didn't have to rely on economic disaster to find a way out of this nonsense. All the Project 2025 shit should really be enough. So no plan?
Here's a starting point:
1) dial back fake news rhetoric
2) dial back on calling everyone a racist
3) compromise on items like border control and foreign aid
4) acknowledge americans as real people that you care about instead of putting foreigners first
5) legalize weed - pretty sure they could have passed this when biden was in office - missed opp.
6) Kick AOC and her cronies out of the party - banish them
7) Understand the majority of americans don't want taxes and want reduced spending
You can still be the democratic party and for the people and improve things like plans to pass laws that people want like womens rights and gun control, but they need to compromise on the other areas of the ultra left agenda and be come centrists.

You can’t fix stupid. Dems should just admit this is what the ‘Murican people want and let them and repubs own it. There won’t be free and “fair” elections in 2026, the courts aren’t going to stop any of it and the majority of ‘Muricans either like what they see, happy days are here again, or don’t give two flying fucks.Turn out the lights, step back and watch the unmitigated disaster unfold. 1. At first I thought you meant "stop spreading fake news," which would earn a huge LOL, given that fake news is responsible for MAGA domination. But maybe you meant stop complaining about fake news, which earns a small LOL. Fake news is real and it's spectacular. What I'd like is for the Dems to find a way to debunk it but that's probably not possible. Oh shit, I think I just saw a migrant caravan out my window.
2. That's more like left-wing social media participants. Calling everyone racist is not a part of the Dem platform (if they even have one)
3. Last time they tried to compromise on border control, the GOP stood in the way so things would get worse and help Trump win. Hard to compromise with such bad-faith actors.
4. (See #1 on fake news). Nobody's putting foreigners first...well the Dems are not anyway. They've said "America First" so much that your suspicion should be triggered.
5. I've long thought that either party would get a bump if it came out hard for weed legalization. I'm not exactly sure why neither one has. The GOP likes weed offenders being locked up for inordinate amounts of time in private prisons. That all said, can it be legalized nationally or is this more state by state?
6. Nah. Vote out the do-nothings that sit in their cushy jobs seemingly oblivious to the gravity of what's going on. The quiet "voting the way I'd vote" nature of my rep (Betty McCollum) isn't doing much. The GOP is winning in large part because of (while this is in many ways a false equivalency) the MTGs of the party. They're loud and obnoxious and it's working. AOC care about regular working people far more than these assholes currently cheering on billionaire robber barons do. We need AOC types saying "look; these people are stealing from you. Elon just killed a federal agency with an actual great success record of protecting people like you from people like him. We also need leadership who's been laughed at for having been a bartender or a community organizer instead of a birthright billionaire."
7. The majority of Americans DO want taxes (maybe not as high). Reduced spending? Sure but it's basically a platitude. The challenging part of leadership here is conveying the message that you can't slash spending overnight (though President Musk might be making that an easier message to send).
None of this is to say that the Dems know what they are going or are equal to the task. But being MAGA light isn't the way.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

Most of this post is garbage, but the dems are always in a tough spot whrn it comes to taxes vs services.“R’s cut everything, including taxes on the rich, you need to fix this!”.“Ok, then we’ll tax the rich”
”THAT’S NOT FAIR. THEY EARNED THAT MONEY FAIR AND SQUARE”
”alright, then we’ll tax you”
”WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DEM PARTY??”
Especially when it comes to taxing, or not taxing, the richest among us.0
