Do you think going away from the middle of the road Dems seems like a continuation of the demise?

Whether you argue it's real or not, the perception that dems were pushing pretty fringe things, in addition to the immigration issue, seemed to be large reasons they lost.  Though I haven't looked at the data so this is just my opinion I suppose.

Yes, cincy. We have gone way far left as a party, and it is precisely why we lost and will continue to lose. I am trying to get that into the skulls of the resident radicals, to no avail. It’s almost like when the trump radical right agenda took flight, Democrats thought the answer was to go even further radical in the opposite direction. That is where we are today,  left and right wing radicals all over the country. A normal American like myself has no party anymore.

I really don't know what the solution is. I think the Dems need a trumplike candidate to get people back.

Barry O would get elected every 4 years until he died if he was allowed to run. We don’t need a trumplike radical. We need a real candidate with a real message. Not a radical liberal. Good grief…

the left won't follow a candidate like trump. the demographics prove that. they need another once-in-a-lifetime candidate like Obama. you have people saying dems went too far left, but then if you go too far to the middle, the message is too homogenized and you get killed on being wishy washy.

it's likely not to matter much. dems will win in 2028 when people tire of the authoritarianism of trump's 4 years. the pendulum will swing HARD if there's any pendulum left to swing. haha

the way things are going, it's going to end up Stone Cold Steve Austin against the Undertaker for the undisputed Presidency of the world.

There’s little evidence of Biden being far left, and Harris was going to continue things as is. The perception didn’t align with reality.

I get your schtick in here is to troll if you think you see something outside of the center, but maybe you’d get more thoughtful replies if you posted about how the system is, or will be, effective in pushing against Trump’s move right and consolidation of power at the executive level.

I don't really mean a radical. Just someone overly confident and brash. Too many people vote based on that. The message makes no difference.

Imagine a candidate that got right in trump's face and called him out for having fake hair, teeth, fat, orange, etc. That's what we need. Someone to embarrass him to his face on the world stage and not worry about the optics.

    That's true.

And the funny thing is that he won because Trump essentially lost a referendum. People were tired of him and his constant whining.

So what happened in the four years after Trump lost a referendum during which Biden was a reasonably good president?

Lots of things that show both that MAGA is really good at pulling people in and the Dems are really, really bad at all of this.
    • MAGA found a way for people like Elon Musk and Joe Rogan to become absolute stars simply by selling out to them. That probably could not happen with a Dem.*
    • MAGA won people over by convincing them that the robber barons on their side were not the problem; it's trans people everywhere (especially in sports) and immigrants.
    • The Dems continued to operate like everything is normal. As MAGA's net grew and embraced former moderates like Musk, Rogan, Tulski, etc., the Dems grabbed Liz Cheney, who nobody likes. They banked on a worn-out America to think that warmonger the Dems used to hate was going be slapped in the face by the message that Trump is doing things outside the norm. They didn't recognize that most Americans want things to be done outside of the norm. One of our former instigators once called the Dems the Party of Billionaires (pretty recently, too) and probably actually believed it.
    • MAGA is WAY ahead of the Dems in recognizing how people consume, for lack of a better term, information. Podcasts, social media, etc. The Dems appeared out of touch with regular people because they are. MAGA's in touch (but using it for evil).

*And they won like 49-48. If somehow Musk and Rogan alone, jumped on the Dem wagon as heartily as they did the MAGA wagon, Harris probably wins 65-35. I really believe that. The Dems are far more in line with what most people believe and want. They just cannot convey the message.

"trumplike" ... ? What is that? criminal? lunatic? narcissist? I'd never vote for a democrat like that. I'm not understanding what this means. :)

Brash, in your face, walk over your grandma to get the mail.

The antidote to trump is trump. Someone who just trashes him to his face and everyone lines up behind him.

    I don't mean a shitty message...just the over confidence.

I totally agree with you. My response was more to that Biden didn't need to do all that and still prevailed in 2020.

Populist, is my guess. Trump is good at reaching regular people AND fooling them into thinking he's on their side.

    Dems don't resonate with people.

None of this matters. Elon Musk will be this country's dictator before another election occurs.
