If Alone and Wash had made it onto the original release of Ten...

better yet, find a group of 4 songs that are better than those...I double shit dare you
Vs. - WMA, Daughter, RVM, Indifference
Vitalogy - Immortality, Corduroy, Nothingman, Last Exit0 -
Vitalogy I trade you Whipping for Last Exit (but cetainly a good call) and you have a solid argument.
I'm not buying Vs. though. RVM is at or above the level as it is simply badass but the other 3 songs aren't elite IMO.
Just one man's opinion0 -
for vs I would say: Go, Animal, RVM, indifference
Vitalogy is my favorite, so I think you could almost the whole album there....including aye davinita, and Pry, To as muscially great songs..plus vitalogy far and away has the best concept, cover art, book...
No Code: somtimes, in my tree (my favorite PJ song especially on the MSG DVD, great version), Habit, Presant Tense, I'm Open, ...TRUE< they did not reach the startdom that the first three albums had, but is the emotion still there, Yes. Not teen angst, but then again they were probably close to 30 at this point. if they were still spitting out teen angst, they would be any of the other copy cats...
Yield: GTF, MFC, DTE (plenty of grit and emotion in this one..maybe not sadness and longing, but there are many emotions)
Binaural: maybe not so much here...
Pearl Jam: i think its polished, but its alive, and still emotional, just a more mature emotion....Can't blame the guys for getting older...Especially when they are still giving 110% and the music is still rockin'...I scream in affirmation

I must start by saying Vitology is #1A for me and I love it
but I always thought they were just Fing around with those songs
oddball filler IMO
love that album though, really not a weak song out of the bunch and many of their finest. Courderoy is not to be messed with!0 -
hehe...yeah, well I guess I wouldnt put them on my top ten list or anything, but they have a cool little groove to them, and fit in well with the album...and they're short so its not overdone, like heyfoxymophandlemommathatsme, might be considered...I scream in affirmation

Vs. was a difficult one just to top Black with. I was going for emotion in the vocals which I feel Ed closely comes to in the ones I listed (WMA, Daughter, Indifference), but doesn't meet it. RVM was the obvious pick for me, meets Black's power in a different way in my book.
I admit, I couldn't do No Code, Yield, Binaural, Riot Act, or Avocado...0 -
the album was released the way it was for a reason. wash and alone are great as b sides anyway.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

Alone is my altime favorite song! I like it being obscure and unknown by the more superficial fans. It makes me feel like more of the family. If it were on ten then it would just be another one that everyother fan knew of. I think it makes both songs more exciting when they are (sorry IF) they are played."F**K you, I have laundry to do" -ed0

I was 16 when I first heard Ten, it was awsome and is still my number 1 album (14 years is a long time!!) whether it is because of being there, then, I don't know but I can't see anything out doing it, I think every PJ album has had outstanding tracks on them but with Ten there is something special.0

Alone by itself is one of their all time best songs.0

I am glad they didnt make it. They wouldnt be what they are Two of the Greatest B- sides ever. First you had 10 then Alone,Wash, Dirty Frank, as B side singles. Great music just kept on coming.
I dont listen to Ten itself much any more. But they are still some of my favorite songs, and the songs from Ten on early boots are the only ones
which still give me Chills.08/12/92, 04/17/94, 09/28-29/96,09/08/98, 9/02/00, 04/28/03, 04/30/03, 05/03/03, 07/05/03, 05/27/06

i wouldn't change Ten's tracklisting at all, even though Alone and State are awesome songs. However, i agree that Ten is sounding a little dated. The best way to enjoy it these days is to burn a live version of it using the same tracklisting, taking the songs from the bootlegs. The difference in energy and performance is huge (although you have to make sure you get a version of Black where Eddie holds the note at the end for ages, and make sure you're careful with Even Flow cos Mike's solos can be a bit hit and miss imo)“Do not postpone happiness”

Ten will go down as one of the seminal releases of the early 90's and, IMO, is as relevant today as it was then. It's already been mentioned that the album is all about emotion, which will always enable fans (new or old) to empathise with it.
I absolutely love this album and for what it stands for. After all, it was Ten that brought PJ into my life.0 -

Not forgetting the fact Q Magazine (UK music mag) has stated that woldwide sales of 12m - Nevermind sold 10m as reported in May 2006.
I have a copy of the original UK release but there is another with Wash, Dirty Frank and Alive (Live), cant bring myself to have 2 copies of ten. I have most of the Vinyl releases on single (12") anyway and they are on there."oh when I was a kid, oh how magic it seemed"Manchester, England (June 04, 2000) £27.50Leeds, England (August 25, 2006) £40Manchester, England (August 17, 2009) £50 - I thinkManchester, UK (June 20, 2012) £50 - I thinkAmerican Express presents BST Hyde Park (July 08, 2022) £80

I find that most of their albums are like that, and that is what I love. Their albums all have songs that relate. Like TEN is about abuse, and the newest is kinda speaking out about war and society as a whole.
That's the way I see it anyways. The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

another reason many of us don't listen to Ten anymore is because the damn thing is worn out. I was in HS had it on tape (yes it was that long ago) and am now on my third CD.
You listen to something a million times over and over and it loses a bit of its luster, but let's not get crazy here. Ten is the cream of the crop. Not only does it have the most hits but some of the most emotional songs they've ever written.
I dare you to find 4 songs with more heart, grit, and emotion than Black, Porch, Release, and Alive on any one album of PJ.

most hits, but at the same time PJ does not release many songs for radio play. They can't just buy a CD and play anything off of it....they must have permission. This was one of the few ways that PJ could stay "underground"The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

What about having Footsteps or Yellow Ledbetter on it???
