Just booked the residence inn in North Shore. Is that 30 minute walk pretty safe generally? Also, is south side flats safe?
You can take the underground public transportation from north shore to us steel stop. You would only have to walk a few minutes from hotel and arena to where the entrances are. South side flats are pretty safe though the bars on the south side attract a younger demographic and all the problems associated  with aforementioned age group.

I'm just curious, what year did the fan club tickets move from "almost always" getting tickets to a lottery system?   I know it's been a long time now, but I remember in those early years, it was guaranteed, or it sure worked out that way from 1996 when I joined to at least 2016 as far as I know.

I feel like it was lottery by at least 2010? It was definitely lottery in 2014 because I lost on Detroit.

I remember those shows,   weren't they a "dry run" to test the new priority system or something?

That’s how I remember it, yes.
  • I got two for N1 pretty jazzed up to visit Pittsburgh as I have wanted to go there for a while and am a Steelers fan suffering football in Chicago.

Any hotel suggestions don't need to be near arena but would like more for entertainment district if not one in the same.

    Thanks

Would be helpful if when someone says they got tickets, to remind us how recently you were notified.    "Helps" us who are still anticipating.

(says the guy with under 40 posts in 15 years).  LOL

First time in Pittsburgh. What’re some fun things to do? Need stuff to occupy the day Saturday between shows! Was also wondering how the Polish Hill area is? Booked an AirBnB in that neighborhood because it was nice and affordable as well.

Pretty sure the 2013 tour was the first lottery. Before that it was seniority - so it wasn't technically "guaranteed" but if you had a good number then it was virtually guaranteed. There was a lot of fan pushback at the time about the same people always getting the best seats, so that's why the lottery came in.

Not a lot to do in Polish Hill, but you will be just below the Strip District which has a lot to offer.

It makes sense.   I saw (3) shows in 96, and (2) in 1998, and several in the early 2000's and I would run into the SAME people in the seats around me.   If anyone was there, especially the 1996 shows - does anyone remember the guy dressed up as a white cow?   Random but unforgettable.

    Just above* the Strip!

Polish Hill is mostly residential but is sandwiched between lots of trendy neighborhoods. Walkable depending on how far a "walk" is to you. Butler Street in Lawrenceville is up the road from the Strip, which is hipstery, lots of bars/restaurants/shops.

The best touristy thing if the weather is nice is to ride the incline and walk around the top of Mt. Washington. The view is great, and there's lots of places to get a drink up there.
