#46 President Joe Biden

OK, I'm sorry my friends (and possible foes), but I am compelled to site this quote from Heather's letter. It's something I think bears considering here on AMT:"And yet, much of American media today has been consumed not with the story that Trump has appointed a deeply problematic candidate to run what could be considered the nation’s most important department, overseeing about 3 million personnel and managing a budget of more than $800 billion, or with the reality that Biden’s distrust of our legal system under Trump is a profound warning for all of us.Instead, they have focused on President Biden’s pardon of his son...."Hmmm...

Generally speaking, this would be the playbook going forward. That was what I'm getting at. Do whatever you can to make money then your buddy the President will pardon you and you get away with things.mrussel1 said:

Presidential pardons of friends and allies isn’t new. And if your plan is to commit a crime in hopes that a decade later your dad is president, well that’s pretty risky.tempo_n_groove said:

Jon Stewart hammered on dems last night for speaking out of both sides of their mouth after the Hunter pardon. I think Biden really fucked a lot of people by doing this and now they're all stuck in spin mode trying not to be the soundbyte used on conservative sites/shows.

What's to say really? Was Biden lying when he said he wouldn't pardon him? We don't know his intent at the time. Circumstances have clearly changed.
The real travesty would have been a pardon once the special counsel was named. Obviously that would have been political suicide but now that he is leaving office forever why not?
Dems don't need to explain anything. Just say "yeah I don't agree with that" and move on.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

People can complain about the pardon all they want, but they need to actually read about this absolute clown who is going to be the highest law enforcement officer in the country.....then and only then will they agree that Biden made the right choice (albeit, as usual, it was not communicated nearly as well as it should have been).www.myspace.com0 -
Yeah, I understand that, but when you harp on the rule of law and bill yourselves as the party of justice, don't be surprised when people use this moment to challenge that narrative. And from what I've seen, people are rationalizing and justifying just like on here.Gern Blansten said:What's to say really? Was Biden lying when he said he wouldn't pardon him? Yes, Trump is garbage and can't be trusted, but don't give these dirt bags ammo to say the same of yourselves as a party. Call Trump a liar all you want, but how many documented moments are there where Biden staunchly denied he would pardon his son?It's a hopeless situation...0 -

I don't know. I keep seeing people (especially here) say that. But if you don't pay $1.4 million in taxes, the IRS is going to find out and come after you. And I keep seeing the defense of "he was paying it back." Well, yeah, after he got caught. And then he stopped short too.tempo_n_groove said:

Again, thinking out loud.According to the indictment, Hunter Biden engaged in a four-year scheme in which he chose not to pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019 and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns. As alleged in the indictment, to further this scheme, Hunter Biden:
- subverted the payroll and tax withholding process of his own company by withdrawing millions outside of the payroll and tax withholding process;
- spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills;
- in 2018, stopped paying his outstanding and overdue taxes for tax year 2015;
- willfully failed to pay his 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 taxes on time, despite having access to funds to pay some or all of these taxes;
- willfully failed to file his 2017 and 2018 tax returns, on time; and
- when he did finally file his 2018 returns, included false business deductions in order to reduce the very substantial tax liability he faced as of February 2020.
How is any of that just being political? People have gone to prison for less. I made this comparison before, Richard from Season 1 survivor spent 4 years in prison for not reporting his $1 million Survivor winnings. As far as I know, he's not Biden's son.0 -
You actually think Patel gets confirmed? It's not happening and Trump made the same bogus claims about going after Hillary and others in 2016, but when it came down to it, there was nothing there to prosecute and he knew it. It's the same thing this time. Hunter was a fucking mess for years so there probably is other shit he did, but it wasn't a crime family like the conspiracy theorists keep bloviating over.The Juggler said:

I believe his argument was that he had no income. His company was NOT paying him a salary. They were advancing money to him that the company considered a loan which is not reportable on your income taxes.mace1229 said:

The IRS stepped in and basically said that the "loans" were disguised compensation and made the company report it as such. Fraud? Probably not. Horribly bad advice? Absolutely. I imagine his tax preparer got in trouble for that shit.
But given that Trey Gowdy and Lindsay (flip flop floozy) Graham have agreed that if it weren't Hunter Biden then no charges would have been filed I think we can agree that it was bogus to file criminal charges for that. The special counsel couldn't find anything else except for the gun charge.Post edited by Gern Blansten onRemember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

Yeah I'm no expert on the process but I wonder if trump's intent (actually Stephen Miller's) is to get trump in office, then fire Wray, then when the GOP won't confirm Patel the deputy director would assume the role...but what if trump fires that guy as well? Does trump then get to name Patel as an interim director?tbergs said:

But have they drug Joe in front of a congressional hearing? That's what I'm picturing. They will just manufacture something to keep the controversy in the news while trump is playing golf and saying racist shit.Merkin Baller said:
