My daughter did the turkey last night here at our house! By far the best turkey we’ve had it was an organic turkey I’m not sure what that means but she brined it overnight and it was just so damn good, I usually never eat 2nd helpings but just couldn’t resist 😋

We go to my sister's house.
Basic traditional meal for the most part

Turkey (fresh kill I get from work)
    Gravy,
    Mashed Potatoes
    Stuffing
    Peas
    Candied Yams
    Dinner Rolls
And my brother-in-law makes the vilest broccoli casserole and generally he's the only one who eats any of it.

A couple of pies and such for dessert, always including chocolate cream pie.
Let's hear more of this vile broccoli dish you speak of. Wtf is in it?
It's similar to the vile green been casserole.

I believe it cosmists of broccoli, cream of mushroom soup and cheese. Looks like vomit in a casserole.
    This sounds so gross.
While I started a thread years ago about the disgusting choice for a side that is GBC, my nutters sister in law out-grosses the GBC idea each year.
She is one of the worst cooks imaginable.  Subs out ingredients that are vital and brags about it.  (When it makes her awful food, worse.)
Everyone is nice and eats it, but my wife and I are in fits of laughter, after hosting duties are done.
Wonder what dishes she ruins this year?
Last year it was sweet potatoes...some sort of mash up / soupy sort of monstrosity that tasted nether sweet nor potatoes.   *sorta tasted like what I imagine eating what it looked like would taste like....a shit pie.

Hosting only 8. GF, and without some strong spices my wife cannot tolerate.
    Turkey
    Stuffing
    Mashed potatoes
    Gravy
    Rolls

Relatives bring other sides and desserts.  I stopped making more of those because they brought even when I asked them not to bring.
No more 7 cheese, award winning, Mac n chee.  Fuck right off! Lol

I'll start drinking beer early in the day and have a nice buzz by the time it is just 3 of us again.
    Then I will be thankful.
lol...reminds me of my son in law's mother...I kept hearing about how she doesn't cook but she makes great mac & cheese, etc. She brought it to my daughter's baby shower and it was the most god awful slop I have ever had. How does one go to that much effort and still come out with a basically flavorless mac & cheese? And who the fuck puts corn in it?

The mac noodles had to have come from Kraft M&C boxes...I'm pretty certain of that. It looked like she dumped 3-4 boxes of Kraft in a slow cooker with probably slices of plastic american cheese, fucking corn, and too much milk.

Not as bad as GBC of course.

Corn in mac & cheese? What kind of unholy abomination is that? You should have called the police for culinary crimes.

I don't think she even drained the corn. It was just fucking nasty. And to haul it in like she just smoked a prime rib was the icing on the cake.

imagine mac and cheese that tastes like nothing...like overcooked pasta in slop that has no cheese flavor.

then add a can of corn to that with the water

Velveeta melted mix in pasta, baked with breadcrumbs on top. A drained can of corn might be a nice addition.
Might have to make this soon. Winter is here!

My sister in law brought 2 dishes.
One "cranberry sauce" that looked like sheep menstruate.  I did not try it.  Didn't look like anyone else did, either.
The other looked sort of like refried beans, but more of a loose consistency.   She said it had eggplant in it.  I have no idea.  She also said she used Cayenne pepper when meaning to use cumin.
    Wtf?
Yes, she has mental health issues.  This is one of the reasons we raised her son.
I have to admit....it actually was pretty good.  It was spicy and kind of interesting tasting.  Only had a few scoops but first thing of hers I've found palatable in years, despite it looking like diaper contents.
