The World Series are probably the only baseball games I watch all year. This was not complicated. The Dodgers had far better pitching and hitting than the Yankees. Yamamoto was so dominant and the LA hitters just ate up the Yankees pitching staff. The Yankees were simply outclassed. Yes, bad plays, maybe a few bad decisions by Boone, but when it comes down to it, the Dodgers were a much better team top to bottom.
Take away the 5th inning and it was a blow out. Even just take away Judge's drop and it's still a blowout,
    If the queen had balls...
I get that. I'm just saying I don't consider one team far better when it comes down to one at bat or one missed play almost every game.
Thats not far better, that's pretty evenly matched. A far better team doesn't need errors to win, isn't hoping for a 10th inning home run to come ahead, needing  shutout in the last inning to hold the lead, etc.
The yankees had their chances, multiple times in each game, and blew it.
The Dodgers were the far better team. Take off the homer glasses.
    They weren't that much better.

What if the Yankees don't give Cole that extra year and he becomes a free agent?

they’ll give it to him and I guess anybody would do what cole is doing, but it strikes me as greedy on his part.

but, as I said, anyone would do it. maybe I’d feel differently about him if he had bothered to cover first base.

They were. And the national league was significantly better than the American League. The Yankees had the easiest cake walk ever to a World Series. Them losing to the Dodgers was a forgone conclusion.

Yankees offer Soto a qualifying offer. Get a draft pick if he signs elsewhere. Not to Gleyber though

the yankees made out well. I don’t think you want to guarantee another $36M to a pitcher who would then be 39.

The Yankees didn't offer the extra year. They called his bluff. Now they're working on a deal because Cole doesn't want to leave.

if not an extra year, what kind of deal could they be offering? I think he’s getting his four years; no more money, no more years.  maybe some sort of option at the end.

They can probably add some money to his existing deal and defer at the end

why would they do that? $324 isn’t enough?

  • I bet teams were falling over themselves to give a massive contract to a 34 year old pitcher who missed 3 months last season with elbow inflammation.

They don't have to since he backed out of the opt out. I don't really know that much.

You forgot "too fat to cover first base".
    This weekend we rock Portland
