Just got home from the game. Sports are wild. Highs and lows. Saw the Yankees lose two World Series games in person but also had an absolutely incredible time. They literally forgot how to catch the ball. Lots of changes coming to this team.

    This is most definitely true
  • All Cole had to do was cover 1st base.
That's all he had to fucking do.

It's astounding those plays the Yankees didn't make. The Dodgers did to them what the Yankees did to their opponents from 1996 to 2000 when they won 16 of 19 World Series games.

Something he should have learned in Little League. Should be the natural/instinctive move to head to first on any grounder over there.
    This weekend we rock Portland

Anyone else think Rizzo didn't even try to get there on that play?
100% Cole should have covered. But when Rizzo saw he wasn't, it looked like it would have at least been a close play with Rizzo sprinted there himself. Got to at least try in a World Series.

Judge dropping the routine fly ball was just pathetic. No fucking excuse. The throw from Volpe to 3rd? I'm a little more forgiving on that play. It was a bang-bang play, his angle on the throw itself was tough. Should he even have gone to 3rd with the throw? That play, again, I'm able to somewhat forgive.

But fucking Cole? ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS COVER 1ST BASE!!!!

Your team ran the bases like a bunch of drunks, the entire series.
Last night they played defense like a bunch of drunks.
    A shame.

Rizzo is known for not taking first on his own. He wants the pitcher there. Cole said in the post that he took a wrong angle. Rizzo still had the ball in his hands and should have sprinted to first. He still had time.

Yeah, I didn't really understand why he didn't take it to first himself. Boone, for whatever it's worth (probably nothing) talked about how he had to play it a bit back with the spin and between hops, but yeah...can't happen.

I have definitely covered 1B pitching softball way better than Cole did last night, and that's two beers in.

The World Series are probably the only baseball games I watch all year. This was not complicated. The Dodgers had far better pitching and hitting than the Yankees. Yamamoto was so dominant and the LA hitters just ate up the Yankees pitching staff. The Yankees were simply outclassed. Yes, bad plays, maybe a few bad decisions by Boone, but when it comes down to it, the Dodgers were a much better team top to bottom.

A much better team and they played good fundamental baseball.
The Yankees played like there was gallons of Vodka in those Gatorade coolers.

It's an elimination game of the World Series. Rizzo is equally at fault for not even trying. Looked like he had at least a 50/50 chance of making the out on his own.
Game 42 of the season when you're up, sure, teach the pitcher he needs to cover. But don't let him learn that lesson over the cost of losing the World Series.

Take away the 5th inning and it was a blow out. Even just take away Judge's drop and it's still a blowout, the other errors wouldn't have happened (theoretically, would have had 3 outs by then).
I wouldn't say Dodgers dominated last night, take away 1 error and Yankees win by 4.
