  • I like it as a song. Listened to it a lot back in the day.  Was cool to hear something new/different.

Looks like a really unique set, nice to see it mixed up. Amongst the Waves shouldn’t be as rare as it is. Never thought they would bust out whale song, actually sounded pretty good on the YouTube clip I watched! Kinda actually jealous.

    12. WAITING FOR STEVIE (after a crowd issue or three or four and modern girl a cappella and some barolo)
“Crowd issue” is someone on the ground. He is still on the ground and medical personnel is nowhere to be found. He just said fuck it and started singing Stevie.
Yeah I didn’t mean to sound callous — I’m waaay in the back of VIP and can’t see what’s happening
I was pretty much next to the person. He stayed down for quite a while. Then they got him out of there.

Top tier set. The diversity and one for the serious collector. No hesitation by the band to get the scratched Got Some from Boston into the lineup. Bravo Ed. More unique sets like this while still covering some hits.  Back to your grass roots.

And the Whale Song videos it sounds fantastic.  Truly a good song. Better then some others that get regular play for sure.

    Chinese or Gremmie next?!?!

Well, I’m old, so — yes.

I think you can tell who’s local at a SoCal beach: they’re wearing a down jacket nine months out of the year.

  • Call me boring but I’ll take SOLAT, Present Tense, Immortality, Nothingman, In Hiding, the list goes on and on, over at least 6 songs from last night.

  • If the curfew is 10pm tomorrow I’m really really really hoping they’re on stage before 7:45pm. Not complaining about length, they played a lot of 25-27 song sets at 2.5 hours this year….just want as much PJ as possible.
Really interested to see what they play tomorrow if that was last night’s setlist
Oceans - HTI - Breakerfall - Big Wave
    Marker in the Sand sighting?
    Grievance dusting?
No Way or Rival in the “White Whale Slot”?

Last night was scheduled 8:25-10:30 and actual was 8:30-10:32.  Tomorrow is scheduled 7:55-10:00 I believe.  Don’t think we’re getting 25.  Probably 20-21 again.  Maybe more if there aren’t crowd delays.  But with that many people and the front half of the thing probably all being dehydrated there will be issues.

They’re not gonna hand out plastic bottles or cups of water up front in California 😂
    Decent chance for Gremmie tomorrow

I had to buy a hoodie. Don't think it got that cold in 2021

Do people like whale song as a song or purely because it hadn’t been played before?
Does nothing for me. Seen some fan accounts go crazy and I don’t see it.
I thought it was pretty good

My guess, based on previous years, is that that 10:00 curfew on Sunday night will be a hard stop, since Monday is a workday for people who live near the venue. So they will play until 9:55ish, hence the posted 7:55 start time.

It was perfect. I had shorts and a short-sleeved shirt on and I was so comfortable. It's great to be able to rock out and not break a sweat. Marine layer was thicker a bit south, but stars were visible above at Dana Point.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

I live in L.A. and I do not even own a jacket. I'm from the northeast. In over 20 years here, never once have I thought or said, "It is cold."

They posted 8:25 p.m. last night and came on at 8:30 p.m., and played a tick past 10:30 p.m. I expect something similar tomorrow, taking it right up to 10 p.m.

I think San Diego beaches might be a bit chillier — that or sex makes a difference. I’ve seen a lot of women, myself included, bundled up on beaches in La Jolla, Encinitas, Del Mar, etc.

I’ll be bringing a warm shirt, a vest, and gloves today because my stiff, frozen fingers made typing the setlist a challenge last night. 🥶
