    not from all the rumours I've read here and people in the know online elsewhere. believe me, I am VERY skeptical. But hopeful.

    The Sphere isn’t a gimmick. Sure I’ve never seen a 200 foot screen, but not sure how many cyclone tunnels I can watch there on YT. And the bands all look tiny there. Even microscopic.

     Fans here are wishlisting album shows, are not considering it takes specialized equipment to produce a sphere video, can’t be cheap. Movies are shown there for eighty bucks. That’s a lot for such a large capacity for a movie.

    So if producing videos there are expensive, and they want to alternate setlists, then how? Same videos for different songs? If they are going there to provide a cutting edge experience, seems step one is minimizing that experience to keep tickets under $500…because it is expensive and time consuming to produce. seems this is what their leader wants so it very well may happen, but a shame considering they’ve spent a career doing their live experience differently, and their indifference to touring causes them to skip so many cities.

    Agreed, my point was not that Facemelter is credible or not cause he is! I was just pointing out he is the only one saying it, that's all. The rest of the chatter is based off only him. It would be cool if someone else could confirm besides him.

    Yes to pretty much all of this. If Pearl Jam were to play Sphere, you'd be looking at a very standardized set. If there were going to be a full-album performance, it would be the same album every night, like U2 did with Achtung Baby. This is not really how Pearl Jam operates (although, of course, they could change their tune, no pun intended). Another thing to keep in mind is that Pearl Jam doesn't really rehearse a lot. Wishing for them to do a residency where they play five different full albums in a short span of time-- they're never going to put the time in to prep for that.

    If bands had the choice of touring spheres or stadiums/arenas it would be a no contest :)

    At work, I sit in front of a high-resolution screen all day long. When I go to a concert, I want to see the band. For real. Sure, it was cool to see a Mike McCready solo so gigantic. But after five minutes I realized how much the screen behind the band distracted me from what was actually happening on stage. Even in good seats close to the stage, where you don't need a screen, it begs for your attention. They can sell the thing straight away for all I care.

    At a Pearl Jam concert, I don't need to feel like I can be anywhere. I'm at a fucking Pearl Jam concert. And that's exactly where I want to be.

    As a one off Id be game for the immersive experience but I do hear what you say here and its genuinely impossible to disagree with any of it

    I totally agree with you in regards to the arena/stadium shows but cooking something up for the Sphere is a completely different thing

    If I were given a choice between a real Pearl Jam tour in arenas and stadiums and a Sphere residency next year, I’d take the tour. If I were given a choice between a Sphere residency or no NA tour at all (as in 2015, 2017 and 2019) I’m taking the Sphere.

    Given the choice...  and no offense to pearl jam... I'm with you.  Tool it is.  Their use of visuals on this last tour was out of this world.... I'm sure they could really use the sphere to it's full potential like no one else...

    I'll I ask is that they leave sober out of the set unless they're going to put together new production for the screen... i've seen that one song enough... lol.

    You can see the band, and better than you can in most arena's stadium because it's more like amphitheatre seating, where all the seats face the stage (not face where the sports would be playing), plus is has a GA floor which was an amazing place to take it all in.

    I really think some of you should experience it before knocking it.  Even if they didn't use the screen at all, it's a better concert venue than any arena/stadium. The sound is amazing in there and the place was built for acoustics.  The place was built for music.  In addition because all the gear is built into the venue, there's no speaker stacks, scaffolding, frames, etc... U2 had a stage and 4 stands for lights and that was it.  Probably the best sightlines of anymore show I'd been too.  Nothing to obstruct it.

    I'm not sure I'd go see PJ if they played there.  Even with u2 it was buying tickets to additional dates after the reviews came back so positive.
