I’ll also say the the GH duet was fucking beautiful. I was able to appreciate it more because I kinda expected it and I had a feeling the rest of the encore would be insane. Which it was.

What an incredible two nights! Last nights set was a very up and down show for me. Highlights were of the girl, alone, rats, in my tree, elderly, stevie and a kick ass porch. Low points were wishlist, dotc, and the duet with Glen (just no room in the set for this!).  Can't wait for the next tour!  I am exhausted after four shows in a week.
    Overall rankings after a week:
    1. Philly 1
    2. MSG 2
    3. Philly 2

    4. MSG 1
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

I think this might be the best “new songs” reaction that I can remember. They go over very well. And rightfully so
  • I think this two show run in Philly might be my favorite two show run in a city that PJ has ever done. Or at least very close to the top. I knew it was going to be hard to top Saturday night which was one of the best shows I’ve ever been too and last night didn’t but man did they try their best. Unbelievable show.

Highlights were In My Tree, a great version of BM, Rats(!!), DOTC, Alone, and perhaps my favorite version of Crazy Mary I have ever seen them do. Towards the end when Mike and Boom were going back and forth was electric. Awesome stuff. Ed sounded great all night as well.

Also, I was a big fan of the new album when it came out already, but getting to repeatedly see the new songs live the last 5 shows has only confirmed to me that this album is a top 4 or 5 work of theirs. The songs are sounding better and better live which is awesome. Scared of Fear, WFS, and Upper Hand specifically are just killer love. Really enjoying hearing those over and over again.

i have one more show on this tour, Baltimore on Thursday night, but I was really soaking in the show last night and thinking how lucky are we as a fan base to have this band?? I mean I don’t think we can take for granted the shows these guys are giving us after 33 years when most bands would be phoning in a greatest hits tour. We got 48 unique songs over two nights and the band played with the same energy they did 25 years ago. And whether people want to admit it or not their prices are an absolute bargain in 2024 for someone of their stature. It’s just awesome that we still shows as special as these two Philly shows from them. Had to take a second to appreciate it knowing we probably don’t have too many of these nights left.

On to Baltimore for the 6th and final show of the fall leg for me!

Dammit. There's now no chance In My Tree will be played at Fenway. That's a once per five or six show song.

Looks like this was a great show. Dance of the Clairvoyants is a nice get too.

I too am exhausted and a little numb from 4 shows in a week.  What an amazing 4 shows though!  We are so lucky to still get to do this with our favorite band. I’m so grateful for these experiences with friends and with my family too. What a gift!  I FINALLY got OF THE GIRL!  So happy!  Everything else after that was just completely and fully accepted and enjoyed.  Highlights include:  In my tree, upper hand (my fav from DM and up there for all time fav songs), alone, Stevie, rats. While I completely agree that Song of good hope with glen brings the energy down it’s such a meaningful song to my daughter and I that Im so glad they played at both shows she attended with me.  Being the last of my shows this tour I’m not ashamed to admit that I shed a couple of tears during YL.  Who knows when I’ll see them again?  Cherish every moment for what it is.  Live it and appreciate it.  We don’t get those same exact moments again and who knows what tomorrow will bring.  Thank you PJ!!

Another incredible show.  Didn't think the energy by the crowd or the band could come close to matching Saturday night but damn it came really close.  Of the Girl a cool opener.  Crowd on Elderly Woman was as loud singing as I've heard at a show.  Not a fan of In My Tree in general but it was really damn good last night.   New songs sounds great.  Upper Hand and Stevie sound so great.  Such a treasure that this band is still producing such great songs and amazing shows 34 into their career.  They all seemed to be having so much fun up there last night.  Forget what song it was but took a look at Josh and he was just going crazy in back.  Mike and Boom on Crazy Mary they both had a look of pure joy.  so cool to see.   And as fun as Wrigley was and hopefully Fenway will be an indoor arena show is just a far better experience in my opinion. give me indoor anytime.   So when are the next Philly shows?

Edit: one of the coolest things I saw was the Security Guard on the floor at the end of the Pit near section 101 was fucking rocking out to a few of the songs.  Animal he was going ballistic.  He was having a blast.  Very cool to see.

  • Fantastic show.  I really enjoyed hearing the new Dark Matter tracks live for the first time, but "Rats" was definitely the highlight of the night.  The whole set-up with Eddie's Spectrum story and the Rats sign in the audience was just perfect.  Thanks PJ for another incredible show.

On top of everything else I thought they did a great job with the sound, both up in the suite level Saturday and down on the floor last night.

They always bring it in Philly or Camden.
  • Went to both NYC shows and last night in Philly -- in the pit for all.  I'm a New Yorker.  The crowd in Philly is better.  The end.

I thought we might be getting acoustic Rats for a minute during the first song of the encore. Ed came out alone with his guitar and started talking about the people holding the "RATS" sign and all. That would have been something!

Then he went and talked about the philly crowds and the couples who have been together and met on Tinder. I did know one of the couple he mentioned, Janet and Mike, so that was cool,

  • I know we are all big fans of Pearl Jam and go to a lot of shows and everyone likes to say what a setlist but let's be honest about Philly 2, it was complete crap.  I have been to around 20+ shows and that was by far the worst the band has performed.  You can name it from the bad setlist with not much flow, The time in between songs where they could not get started and Ed would have to come on and talk when he wasn't expecting to, the number of repeats (even dark matter repeats) where they had other DM songs that they have played in past shows but decided to repeat the same from Saturday night.  McCready on Saturday night featured long solos but not many on night 2.  Pearl Jam has become very predictable.  I told people next to me the what the last 3 songs would be before they happened.  Predicticed "of the girl" opener and my guess is Baltimore will be "Oceans"  I know they are getting older and still better than most bands live with not playing "all" the same songs nightly, but I think they are starting to call it in.

With that being said Philly 1 I thought was awesome.  Maybe they were just tired.  If that is the case take more days off in between like the stones instead of taking people hard earned money.  There is really no reason to see them 4-5 times a year anymore because of the predictability but seeing them once is enough now.  Also, they should get out of Album tours.  I personally like the DM album and the new songs but I think it ruins their flow trying to fit them in each night

I will probably get some hate on this but please think about what I wrote and I look forward to your feedback

    Thanks
  • no hate here -- i disagree with most of that and thought show was really good but, hey, to each his/her own.

Its ok to admit they were bad instead of always thinking each show was the best setlist ever.  If you were there for both you know
