Looks like about as good of a set as you can hope for in the current format. Certainly blows Indy out of the water.0

Every show is a gift really.hippiemom = goodness0 -
I was at both and the first 6 songs of both sets were on fire. But I love Vitalogy, so that helps.
I feel like McCready melted the faces of everyone in Wrigley with his work last night. Probably the best I've ever seen him play.1998: Noblesville, IN 08-172000: Noblesville, IN 08-182003: Noblesville, IN 06-222006: Cincinnati, OH 06-242010: Noblesville, IN 05-072016: Lexington, KY 04-26, Wrigley Field 2 08-222018: Wrigley Field 1 08-18, Wrigley Field 2 08-202022: St. Louis, MO 09-182024: Noblesville, IN 08-26, Wrigley Field 1 08-29, Wrigley Field 2 08-31

Awesome night at Wrigley. Release to open is always perfect. Off He Goes was wonderful (thought we might get Gone when he was intro’Ing song). U and Down were nice surprises. Would have loved Breath after SOLAT. Great weather and band was so good. Fan who came up for Won’t Tell did a great job singing and was clearly in awe. I never thought I’d see them with massive video screens but it was cool. Could imagine them playing Sphere after seeing that. Glen Hansard to open was great too - would love duet with him and EV Saturday night.Too many inconsiderate fans in wrong row or standing in aisles on the field. Some over served folks made security do more than they should. Can’t wait for Saturday!0

I liked the set list and thought the band was all that and then some no issues there. I could see complaints with the set list. I like Of the Girl and Off He Goes but they are a little slow when mixed with the new stuff. I felt walking out it was all Yield and prior and new stuff which seemed odd but I liked it. I like all set lists though. I will say the new stuff live is really good. They can go 5 to 6 deep off the new album.
Maybe it was the newer stuff and people not knowing it but the crowd by me seemed dead. I was in the upper deck, great seats and would say 75% of the people were sitting the whole show. I am not young nor would I consider myself spry but how you sit through a rock concert is insane. For me it really took away from the experience. Maybe because it was a weeknight.
I am not a fan of the baseball stadium setting. Like I said, I had a great view of the stage but you re so far away or have bad sightlines there for 75% plus of the seats. I know Ed likes playing Wrigley and it is a cool setting but it also detracts. Wish they would go back to Soldier Field or stick with the UC.
Still can't get over the lack of fan energy. Band and set were amazing.

A lot of the same stuff in the same order. The start of the show was amazing and LOVE the new songs, but playing so many in a row like they have been, it seemed to kill all the vibes around me and a lot of people seemed to not get back into it again. It was weird. More people = more casual fans maybe?I had a blast but maybe the most off Wrigley show yet. Maybe just a bad section, it’ll happen98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.

Yeah, upon further reflection the morning after... McCready was on whole 'nother level last night, that's what really stood out.0

That was an absolute banger of a show! The first 8 songs were off 7 different albums. I tend to stray away from coming onto this forum after shows due to people being too negative about the set list, the people around them, or the venue. I had a blast, show 13 for me, got to check off a few more first time lives (immortality being one I was chasing for a minute). See you all Saturday night.2016: Telluride, CO

Wasn't there but I think this set list is awesome! I think the fact that they are playing two nights gives you more variety. This is good news for us going to ohana!0

Top to bottom, really fun show.0

I had a great time and, from where I was in the field, felt like the band did too. I was hoping for an immediate punch up top but they opted for a slow build and that ended up really working for me. Was cool to see such a diverse array of albums represented early on and, as many have pointed out, the new songs sound great. As always, I appreciated the deeper cuts and always love the in-the-moment play calling they do.
I do agree the crowd was less into it than other times I've seen them, in part because it seemed like ticket prices on the secondhand market dropped so dramatically. When tickets are $40, you'll get a lot more people casually wandering over to see what the show is like. I imagine Saturday will be a bit more passionate in that regard. I had a mix of folks around me who knew the words and were having a good time and then people stone-faced drinking, sitting, or talking through large chunks. But that's what I expect at any big show, really.

When I was walking out I was thinking it was a similar encore to Indy but then I'm looking at it and nope. I'll just say the sound was superb. The acoustic/solo songs were perfectly clear and crisp and elevated songs like Just Breathe which I've heard so many times. It felt like a much longer show than it was. They continue to really nail the first 6 songs before DM material. Although i was a bit bummed of the flubbing of Of The Girl which is one of my all time favorites. Can't wait to see how they mix it up Satuday.New screenname for the new site. At least for now. Previously Lackofdave
