Where is this insistence of an equivalent you speak of? It seems to me, this false equivalence is evoked by those who only prefer to direct their criticism outwardly. Again, it is possible to critique things independently.
Where? Open your eyes. Maga has spent the last four years telling us he's worse than Trump in every way shape and form. Countless investigations that went nowhere...

I assumed his comment was directed at what I said. If it wasn’t, that’s on me. If it was, tell me how my comments point to this equivalency.

I have a problem with anyone who lies or deceives, party affiliation is irrelevant to me. Criticizing one while giving a pass to the other simply because they suck less doesn't make sense to me. I see a lot of that around here.

Politicians have always played fast & loose with the truth; having said that, do you think the lies perpetrated by the GOP about our last presidential election and the attempt to get trump back in the White House is just politics as usual?

In a sense, yes. Deploying tactics (whether honest or not) to retain/gain control is the goal of both parties. To the previously acceptable extent? No, not that I am aware of. Does this action absolve the democratic party of their hand in current political affairs? We’re talking about a duopoly here, one that breeds skepticism.

Sure, it’s a duopoly, but one party despite their many, many faults is at least trying to run the federal government, the other is trying to run it into the ground.
Our country has always had a peaceful transfer of power until 2021, and the GOP are trying to reinstall the main architect of that unrest. Skepticism can be healthy, but when the same guy who tried to overturn the last election is telling us in so many words there won’t be another election after 2024, it would seem wise to dismiss the skepticism & take him at face value; most especially considering SCOTUS’ recent ruling about presidential immunity.

WTF? One half of the “duopoly” stormed the capitol, tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power, regularly restricts voting rights and purges voter rolls, continues to make claims of widespread voter fraud and is already claiming if their candidate doesn’t win, the election is rigged, all while the head of their party and POTUS nominee brags to its base that in four years they won’t have to worry about voting again because it’ll be “fixed.”

What exactly do the Dems need to do to absolve themselves of “their hand in current political affairs?”

Where’s the calling out of Repubs for their malfeasance? Or are both sides of the duopoly the same?

Another common misconception is that simple criticism of the democratic party equates to support for the republican party. It doesn't. It is possible to critique them independently.

I have no problem with critiquing issues independently. I with self declared independents were able to do that more often instead of trying to irrationally claim both sides are the same.

Our duopoly has been around longer than the last 2 administrations, Hal. Much longer, and neither is anywhere close to batting 1.000. Take it up with one of the handful (maybe) who actually supports/defends the gop around here.

It was just a day or two ago that T---p was floating the idea that Harris is a "Jew hater," never mind the fact that her husband is Jewish (apparently "he's a very bad Jew" -- I don't know what that means).

A complete and utter disaster for Trump today.

I loved when he was asked if Vance will be ready on day 1 and he goes on a tangent about how the VP doesn't even matter much. Such a simple lay up question and he blew it.

He should consider dropping out. I don't think he is up for a campaign.

in a maga world, somehow this will be spun to have been a great interview for trump and he will get a 2 point bounce.
