DONALD J. TRUMP & JD VANCE 2024
Strikes against Mexican drug cartels are 'absolutely' still on the table, says former President Trump
The 2024 GOP nominee says Mexico needs to 'straighten it out really fast'
Former President Trump said strikes against Mexican drug cartels are "absolutely" still on the table as fentanyl and overdose deaths continue to plague the United States.
Trump and his 2024 running mate JD Vance sat down with Fox News host Jesse Watters on "Jesse Watters Primetime" to discuss how their administration would deal with the influx of drugs from the southern border and the drug cartels mass-producing them.
"Mexico — are strikes against the cartel still on the table?" Watters asked.
"Absolutely," Trump responded. "Mexico's gonna have to straighten it out really fast, or the answer is absolutely. They're killing 300,000 people a year with fentanyl coming in."
Trump said he had a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping to give the death penalty to "anybody sending fentanyl our way."
"You know, China has the death penalty for drug dealers, etc., and I said, they're drug dealers. They agreed with me. He agreed with me: death penalty for drug dealers, death penalty for people that send fentanyl into our country," the 2024 GOP nominee told Watters. "And that would have made a big — that would have made a big difference."
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto on "Your World" in June that fentanyl and other synthetic opioids have killed more than 1 million people since 2000.
She said fentanyl and overdose deaths are a "human tragedy" and it's a "top priority" for the Biden administration and other government agencies to address the crisis.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that, on average, 115 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose.
Trump said Mexico would be given a short period of time to "police their border."
"I'm sure they're gonna do not well, and then you're gonna see the action start. And you know what's gonna happen? We're gonna have a lot of people living — they're killing 300,000–350,000 — not 100,000 or 90,000 — I'd like to say 100,000. That's a lot of people. That's two Yankee stadiums, OK? They're killing 300,000 people, maybe more than that, and destroying families," he continued.
"Even if there's no death, they're destroying families. The families are decimated, and they're destroyed."
Vance said he doesn’t believe his mother, Beverly, who struggled with drug addiction, would have survived if fentanyl had been coming across the border 20 years ago.
"I don't think that my mom would be here," he told Watters. "And she's a great grandma to her three grandkids, and it's so, just, good to see her happy and healthy… but a lot of families don't get that chance at a second chance because of that poison that Biden's letting into the country right now."
Vance argued the Mexican government wants Trump to do something about the drug cartels because it’s destabilizing their country and contributing to billion-dollar profits.

NBC doesn't seem to think there is any new information there. This might be another one of those topics that the internet takes off with and provides a false impression that there is more to it then there really is.
"I was never on Epstein’s Plane, or at his ‘stupid’ Island,” Trump said in a social media post in January.
Flight logs released in 2021 as part of Maxwell’s trial, however, indicated Trump flew on the plane seven times. The logs don't include the ages of the passengers, despite Lieu's assertion there were "young girls aboard." The logs indicate that on one of the trips between New York and Florida he was accompanied by his then-wife Marla Maples and their daughter, Tiffany, and another listed his son Eric as a passenger.
According to the logs, others who flew on Epstein's plane included former President Bill Clinton, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Britain's Prince Andrew and actor Kevin Spacey.
Was Trump ever accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein?
Ahead of the 2016 general election, a woman who went by the name of “Katie Johnson” filed a suit naming Trump and Epstein as co-defendants. She claimed that Trump had raped her in the 1990s at a party at Epstein’s New York home. The case went nowhere: A federal judge dismissed the case, and then the woman dropped her lawsuit two different times — all in 2016.
Other documents unsealed in January relating to a defamation suit against Maxwell included allegations involving Trump that first became public in 2019.
Sarah Ransome claimed in emails to a New York Post columnist in 2016 that Trump, Bill Clinton and others were involved in Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking scheme. She'd claimed to have videos of some of the participants. Ransome recanted the allegations in a follow-up email to the columnist. The New Yorker reported on the emails in 2019.
Trump spokesman Cheung said in January that “these baseless accusations have been fully retracted because they are simply false and have no merit.”

My favorite part is where the article mentions that "the case went nowhere".
But fails to mention Trump’s victim received threats and was too frightened to show up.
And the rape happened at Epstein’s Manhattan home in the 90's. Anyone know if tRump ever visited New York City during the 90's?
I hope there's not more to this than there really is, unfortunately there probably is....
If NBC doesn't pick it up it likely isn't true. The tRump camp calls them fake news but they sure aren't pushing a lot of the real fake news that I'm seeing right now.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) broke off talks on bipartisan legislation to cut childbirth costs around the same time Donald Trump’s campaign intensified its consideration of Vance as a running mate, according to four people and a draft of the plan obtained by The Washington Post.
The plan would have prohibited insurance companies from charging new mothers co-pays or other expenses related to childbirth, marking a clear break with GOP orthodoxy. Although Vance’s team started working with the office of Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) on the bill in June 2023, talks stopped this June and have not resumed, leaving the fate of the legislation unclear after Vance’s nomination to the GOP ticket, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reflect private conversations.
The break in the talks — at least for now — captures the broader puzzle facing the man who is suddenly the second-most important figure in the Republican Party. In his brief time in the Senate, Vance indicated a vision for a more active role for the government in GOP policymaking on everything from taxes to antitrust. Vance’s allies characterize those proposals as in line with Trump’s priorities, but some of the Ohio senator’s plans — such as clawing back the pay of Wall Street executives whose banks fail — have already prompted grumbling from some Trump allies.
The distance between Vance’s policy positions and Trump’s raises the question of whether the Ohio senator will move the party in his direction — or whether Vance will have to jettison some of the ideas he backed as a senator.

Presidenting is a lot of work. He got everything he wanted / needs from the first go round. And the Supreme Court let home of the hook.
Really nothing to gain from a second term.
