The very stable genius now wants to stop taxation on social security payments.
Ummm..  the shit is already going to run out soon, now you save the people a few bucks a year and leave them with nothing, sooner.
    Assholery.

Ummm it’s assholery to not tax social security payments? Of all the things…

Nothing like good old double taxation, right?

    Assholery.

Easily fixed by adding benefits & taxes over the current limit. As Joe Biden correctly and concisely answered in the June 27 debate. (the only time all night)

Sorry, don't want to derail the thread and our making light of how awful the Trump ticket is....I think Biden said we should increase the rate that earners over $400k pay and that would be enough to keep the program running.
I'm not a pension actuary so am asking for my own education - is that true?  Was the rate discrepancy Biden quoted correct?  (Believe 6% for most, 1% paid in by +400k earners)
I'm all for my mom getting more money but am concerned the program runs out if we were to take steps like stopping the tax income flowing back into the pool.  If this were to happen at the same time as other raises were made to sustain, this sounds better.

Trump saying anything he can to try and lure seniors is what fires me up,in general.

The rate paid towards Social Security on income over the Wage Base ($168,600) is 0%. If you raised that wage base you could easily fund SS. It's just a math equation.

However, if Johnny's point can be implemented it looks like we could continue to fund.  (If implemented, I'd certainly be fine with the idea Trump has.)

Yes social security is taxed but there is a low income exclusion. I agree it shouldn’t be taxed but yeah that is a big budget impact. Of course Trump doesn’t say where to get the money.

Because he only cares about a sound bite to try and sway senior voters, of course, being the huckster he is.
Hopefully your explanation goes into practice and we can keep SS going.

Taxing social security should never have happened. Happened under Reagan who I actually think was a great president overall, but this was a terrible idea and straight up theft for the $ already taken away from people.

Yes social security is taxed but there is a low income exclusion. I agree it shouldn’t be taxed but yeah that is a big budget impact. Of course Trump doesn’t say where to get the money.
He said the same thing about tipped workers at the RNC. No taxon tips.
So, a waitress doesn't have to pay income tax but a teacher and a truck driver do. Makes perfect sense and sounds quite equitable.
    This weekend we rock Portland
