    Wondering if it is a matter of not wanting to do a set of 30 or more songs or not being able to do it physically. 

    I remember going from 32-36 songs to 21-25 was whiplash. I figured they would still be performing 30 songs and two encores and were 5-7 years away from 22-25. 

    The Stones are in their 80's and playing 20 songs a night. 
    I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

    According to the FanViews for that show, they went on stage at 9:30 and played until 11:57. They got permission to go over curfew but only until midnight. Night 1 they went on about 8 and played til 11.

    Would have been interesting too see how many songs London would have gotten.

    30 seems like a bar too high unfortunately … I’m hoping for 27 without having to rely on eruptions and I’m opens to get there

    I don't think a "3 min fast rock-song" type of band need to be out there for 35 songs. 25-27 is enough is enough for me. Or whatever it takes to be out there for 2h40m.

    What they should do is to loosen the strict staple-backbone a bit. 

    Play Do the evolution once every third show instead of every show. Have Animal rotate in instead, and Big Wave, Hail Hail and Brain of J.
    Play Evenflow every third show and rotate in other songs.
    Play Black every maybe five shows and rotate in other ballads.
    Find other Neil Young songs to play mid-set instead of having RITFW at the end.

    THE ROTATION IS KEY. And not getting so damn staple-strict. More so than the amount of songs, in my opinion.

    I think it's mostly physical. Try to preserve Ed's voice as much as they can.  And Matt was quoted (I think around the time Taylor Hawkins passed) how physically exhausting it was doing shows that long. He said he would hit his limit, look at the setlist, and see that they still had 6-7 songs to go. It's possible Ed or one of the other guys got covid during lockdown and they just all agreed not to overdo it upon their return. And now it's the new normal. 

    I also wonder if they feel like they had to keep doing it? Not many of their peers were playing 30+ songs per night. Obviously bad timing with ticket prices going up and show length going down lol.

    its pretty clear when Ed caught covid in 2020/2021 it was pretty dead serious and it left his immune system pretty bang up. thats why he gets sick pretty easily (see cancel shows in europe 2022 and 2024).
