What's next?

my_wavemy_wave clearwater, FL Posts: 340
What does everyone think will be next after Dark Matter in the coming years? Considering the songs are 2 years old I wonder if they have recorded more... just curious what everyone's thoughts are just for fun while we wait for the tour... or what everyone would like to see... Leaving out the Vitalogy 30th anniversary and bootlegs/etc because that's a given and most likely what we'll see next...

None of those. My guess is another 2-4 tour legs, each leg similar in size to the 4 this year. My guess would be 1-2 US, 1 Euro - places they missed this year like Amsterdam and Italy but with the two usual places (UK, Germany), and maybe South America. After that probably a 2 year break with more EV stuff in that period

Mirrorball #2 with the band and Neil + a tour,

while Andrew Watt and Eddie make another Earthling album or tour.

    New PJ Album
I feel like at one of the listening parties Eddie made some sort of allusion to "there might even be something already being worked on" or something along those lines. Def not word for word but it was along those lines. I think it was the first one at the Troubadour. And didn't someone else say there was at least another tune or two done with Watt?

Maybe I'm manifesting my dreams because all I want is another record with Watt and for it to come out in like 2 years and NOT 4. This relationship and creativity they've found with Watt... let it not fade ;) For reals tho, dwell in this place, stay here a bit, keep the flag raised, see what you find and keep going. Please.

    PJ residency at the Sphere
I think PJ at the Sphere is happening within the next 2 years.  Maybe not a full residency, but 4-8 shows or something like that.  They already have the new stage setup and visuals ready to go for this tour and it will translate well over to the sphere.

2025 will hopefully be a traditional PJ tour to some of the many midwest cities that havent had shows in 10-15 years (No Cleveland since 2010 is a shame!)  2026 a light year and then maybe a new and possibly final album in 2027 or 2028.

I would rather them finish strong with an incredible album like Dark Matter than try to force something just to make something and finish on a weaker, Gigaton-like note

I really hope you’re right but that’s definitely not the trend at this point. I think the cities that have been waiting 10+ years at this point aren’t ever getting them again. Last years run is probably as good as it will get for the Midwest unfortunately,
which is still miles better than the South has been getting.

Strike while the iron is hot. Wish they fit one more album in between LB and Gigaton, but otherwise they were pretty consistent with a new album every 2-4 years. Get right back in with Watt. Let him dig through old demos that are collecting dust and see if they can find some more Waiting For Stevie's that the band shelved in their early days....some classic Stone riffs.

Keep touring and come to NH :)

Matt Cameron said in the Matt Pinfield interview that there are more songs that they finished but Watt wanted a concise 10 or 11 song record.  So certainly possible they already have a couple songs done for the next record with Watt.  I could see them getting into the studio with him again next year sometime for another 2 weeks and completing another record.  Could then see that record in 2026!  I think in 2025 we also get another 10 date leg of dates in the US plus probably a few shows in S. America.

There is!  Alot from the Avocado sessions, there was talk of an EP of the songs from Backspacer sessions and Matt has mentioned there are songs from Dark Matter sessions.  There's also still alot from earlier records that hasn't been released.  For example Leatherman II that Ed has talked about.

I don’t want another Earthlings album, or another Watt-produced PJ record, so it’s either Lost Dogs II or a non-Watt follow up to Dark Matter for me.

They are 99.9999% making another record with Watt, Stone said in a couple different interviews they want to do it again and obviously Ed’s on board.
I don’t think another record will be “next” but I’m very confident another record with Watt will happen.

I didn't believe it, but with the new graphics with their shows, I don't doubt it. Bono did say during a concert at the Sphere that "Eddie Vedder is my Elvis".
