Yes, you're free to move on. It's been apparent since Sandy Hook that jack shit is going to be done about gun violence in this country; it's here to stay.

And, as I have pointed out before....can you possibly imagine a scenario where Democrats sabotage bipartisan gun legislation that would actually make a difference like maga is doing right now for political purposes with the border bill? Nope. Neither can I.

From “overall” total categories of crime, yes. In particular cities, no. From particular types of crime, no. But hey, if you’re comfortable living in a country where 157 people have been killed in mass shootings in the first two months of the year, you should be chanting U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A and donating to the NRA to keep things on track. And further, in the interests of topic integrity, keep blaming the “other” for any spike of or for crime, rather than native born. You do you.

less than 2% of migrants asked to be moved to another state actually take NY up on it latest polls show.

This isn't a shocker.  You waited this long to get here so why would you leave again?  In reality the people would have a better shot at getting housing considering NY is chock full at the moment.

And yet if I want to buy deodorant at a supermarket I need to request a staff person unlock the display.  Stores are closing down because nobody can enforce theft laws anymore.  Such a sad state of the country that so many people just don't care and think they can take whatever they want.  I get we don't have resources to enforce a lot of this stuff.

Violent crime being down is great.  And hopefully that is the case for domestic situations.

Even former president Donald Trump weighed in, taking a decidedly draconian stance in a speech last week before California Republicans.

“We will immediately stop all of the pillaging and theft,” Trump said. “Very simply: If you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store.”

The amount of crime that doesn't get reported is astounding.  The laws have also changed so arrests aren't made anymore for things that would have in the past.  It's ok for the homeless to piss in the train car now and not get arrested.  True story.

At the same time, maybe it's me, I don't have fear traveling the subways. It's a different story when i'm deep in the bronx and it's scooter central though.

I tried to find something on unreported crimes, but didn't find anything that seemed very reliable.
We moved out of state from Denver a few years ago, largely due to the increase of crime we witnessed. Within about 5 years the public parks and areas went from being a beautiful place to take a family, to being littered with used needles, homeless and tent cities and litter. A few months before we moved someone tried breaking into our house at about 10 in the morning. We learned he stole a car, crashed it through the fence of the house 2 doors down and was trying to flea. The cops did arrive and circle the neighborhood. They told us they had a good idea who it was and it was a homeless guy who does this all the time. Later that day we found some ditched items in our yard that contained stolen prescription drugs and other illegal items. We called the police to come collect them, they told us to just throw it away, they won't do anything with it. I was baffled, he clearly broke into other homes to get these items and this would be proof of a breaking and entering crime and can connect him to other houses with potentially open cases, but breaking and entering is such a "low level" crime now they don't even bother anymore and they are too understaffed to do much about it anyway.

VIOLENT CRIME. Local jurisdictions not making arrests for petty crimes like theft (big arrest last week. white couple, 8 million dollar theft ring.) for whatever reasons, take it up with that jurisdiction.

Do you have a source for the “amount of crime that doesn’t get reported is astounding?” What does “scooter central” look like? Post a pic.

I saw a house burn down once. Arson is out of control.
