Awesome to hear... the live streams looked great... and while I have seen them a couple times on an 'off' night for lack of a better term, the last two times I saw them in '17 & '18 were phenomenal shows.

Can't wait for Portland.

Yes, this album needs (and deserves) a few more listens (best with headphones). So much to discover. My favorites change everyday. There is only one song that I haven’t really connected with yet. And it’s funny that there were some, that I couldn’t appreciate in the beginning and now I’m blown away by them.

Straight Jacket Fitting! 🤯 The (Roadhause) Blues part, the strings and the instrumental part afterwards. Love the album.

This “era” of the band (call it Like Clockwork through the present) might be my favorite and that’s pretty incredible for a band that’s been around for so long. If I was introducing someone to QOTSA, I think I may play them My God is the Sun or Smooth Sailing over the classic stuff from Deaf or Lullibies. Not saying the eras or better or worse, I’m just saying this band’s been so consistently good that the new stuff holds its own and then some against the old stuff. I can throw on a new song and confidently say to a new listener, “This is what Queens of the Stone Age sounds like.” I’m not doing that with Backspacer through Gigaton lol.

I would never recommend a non fan listen to any PJ record post Binaural. Maybe Riot Act. It isn’t the band I got hooked on.

But when I listen to this new QOTSA album I am thinking about how I can convince my niece and nephew to listen to it addition to what they like now.

Listened to a Josh Homme interview recently. He was saying something to the effect of music genres are for high school kids and adults shouldn’t not like songs because it isn’t cool or hip. His example was Toxic by Britney Spears. It is a great song.

I was never a Britney fan but Toxic is awesome. I have been a fan of Mr. Homme and his music for a while now too.

My damn albums aren't arriving until Saturday now. The package that was out for delivery previously was just the damn shirt, which looks like a clansmen... Not sure how that one got through QC?

I would argue that Avocado is the cutoff. Everything after that seems rushed and more individual rather than "band."

And I agree on the new album...I ranked it earlier and it's one of their best in my opinion.

And Homme still sounds great. Hasn't lost that voice

I gave up on trying to rank QOTSA's albums, they're all so phenomenal in their own right.

At this point I'm marveling at the evolution they've had over the years... and it's pretty linear, from the early sludgy awesomeness we saw on the 1st 3 albums, to Lullabies and Era where you can see them taking those leaps forward to this new level of songwriting they've been showcasing on these last 3 albums.

Best band of the last 25 years IMO.

I agree. And that's not even counting Josh's other great albums. All four Eagles of Death Metal albums are awesome. Them Crooked Vultures was awesome (can't believe they only did one album), and the Desert Sessions is awesome. That's 13 full-length albums and 12 volumes of the Desert Sessions. He's definitely the best guy in rock to be a fan of based on his output. Jack White is up there too....but I prefer Josh.

That TCV only did one album is a heartbreaker.

Don't forget Post Pop Depression, which was pretty much Iggy Pop backed by QOTSA (if you swap out the drummer).

"Sunday" has some of the slickest Hommes guitar licks to date, and he's set a high bar for himself.

And if we're going back further than 25 years, we can throw in the four Kyuss albums. That is one hell of a discography this guy has.
