The video of the guy questioning the employees at the Lego store is so f’ing cringeworthy. They’re making a scene breaking the balls of people making probably close to, if not minimum wage in front of kids & parents shopping for toys and recording it for the internet likes. These people are f’ing awful.0

mickeyrat said:I have rarely said this because I don't like to bad mouth musicians, but what a waste.
Some of Nugent's early work with The Amboy Dukes was amazing and promised a brilliant future as a creative artist. But two major turns probably killed his opportunity to have anything close to a fine legacy.
The first was him caving in to make AOR, radio and mass appeal friendly jock rock, a complete turn around from his less popular but far more engaging and interesting musical odysseys.
The second stage of the Nuge's downfall was coasting on his mediocre musical output and putting far more energy into killing animals and making his right-wing rants the paramount aspect of his nearly every venture.
Instead of being remembered as a creative artist, the man will be known as an obnoxious loudmouth who made supporting a losing political game his number one priority. That is, if he his remembered at all. Unless it can be considered noteworthy to see a man bludgeon his own talents for short-term gain, at this point in time I see little hope for the man of having any chance of creative redemption.
As a music fan, I find this all a bit disgusting and kind of tragic. Like I said, what a waste."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

For example, They drop in here to bad mouth libs like we are evil, and they are not interested in discussion or compromise, just like their leaders in DC. What’s the point of freedom if half the country is uninterested in negotiating?0 -

I wonder sometimes how much the drive-by right wingers who zip in and out here on AMT represent the typical right? I really don't know because I don't personally know many on the far right (and it seems like its mostly far right these days). I see them pop in here. I know one guy (extended-family member) on Face Book, but he only posts occasionally and it's usually just a trolling meme. But yeah, my sense is they don't really want to discuss. There are exceptions, but it seems like most of what people on the right say is either scripted by MAGA or just an angry rant. Not much can come from that.

Came across this article/short interview about Ethan Hawke's book A Bright Ray of Darkness (that I just finished reading and really liked). In the interview and says something interesting about cancel culture:It’s a book in which sex is described regularly and frankly. [The protagonist has a relationship with a much younger woman.] Did you find this difficult in the current environment?
Our sexual identity and the relationship we have through it, to ourselves and to others, is defining in our lives. And in the light of cancel culture and shaming – while a lot of this moment is very helpful – it’s a difficult time to say: “I want to be open about the idiosyncrasies of human sexuality.” What’s that great Mark Twain line? “The aim of art is to alleviate shame.” We’re in this period now when you can’t even write about bad behaviour because it might seem like you’re condoning it. You have to be able to create a character who does things they wish they didn’t do. I went back and forth on it, because it’s just a petrifying time to speak about male sexuality. If you can’t shine a light into dark corners, the demons that live there will never go away.this was also amusing to me:How do you respond to bad reviews of your novels?
I can take bad reviews as a writer, because if critics don’t like it then really they just don’t like the way my brain works, and I’m OK with that. I meet people in restaurants that hate me. And 70 million people voted for Trump. There’s no accounting for taste.
