apirk72 said:I went down to Wrigley 13 at like noon or something looked at the line and decided to get some and drinks instead. I know people enjoy it it so good for them but I can't imagine doing it again. I am pretty patient and will wait out anything I would want until it drops in price, not sure why anyone buys anything the days after a concert, especially posters since there is the AP drop( I scored today hope others here did as well) and usually a drop in PJs shop.0

Shame for those that waited in line 6 hours in nashville. What a cool town as we enjoyed our time bar hopping around rather sweating our rears off in line to grab some merch. Maybe a flipper who posts on here can answer this, poster cost $45, you in turn sell on ebay for $200, is your life/job that needy where u need to profit 155 minus ebay fees by waiting in line 6 hours to stiff other pearl jams fans?0

Just looking at stuff from MSG. conservative sales prices on eBay (before fees) last few days ~$180 poster, ~$130 shirt, ~$170 hat, $140 license plate, ~$40 sticker/pin set. I'm not a flipper, but when you add it all up someone near front of the outdoor early merch line can really cash inTFC '97, TFC '98, Pittsburgh '98, Camden I,II '98, Camden I,II '00, Pittsburgh '00, Philly '03, Camden I,II '03, MSG I,II '03, Hershey '03, Reading '04, Philly '05, Camden I,II '06, Meadowlands I '06, Camden I,II '08, DC '08, Spectrum I,II,III,IV '09, Made in America '12, Philly I,II '13, GCF '15, Philly I,II '16, MSG I '16, Apollo ‘22, MSG ‘22, Camden ‘22, MSG I,II '24, Philly I,II '240 -
In Nashville, I looked at my son and put the question to him. Wait in line or not? He chose not to wait. We did some sightseeing plus TMR tour. So, I resigned myself to not waiting and possibly missing out on the Klausen poster. We lined up at 5:30 on a side entrance. Got in right at 6, and scored a poster! I repeated this at St. Louis and was able to get what I needed. I may be done with the merch lines! 5 hours is too much.0

Frustrated by these artist drops... Never used to have a problem catching them and now 0/2.
Thanks.
Just had a st. Louis in my cart and sold out before I could pay for it. Not happy.

While the city specific shirts are cool, in 2016, I really wanted the Tampa shirt. Didn't get it. Kept looking around online for the next few weeks after the show, and never saw any that were reasonably priced. After 2 months, I didn't care anymore. I had my fun at the actual event. In 2022, I really don't care anymore. Its just a t-shirt. Think about other events you have been to, and not got a souvenir. Does that really affect your happiness now?0

The reason I waited nearly 6 hours in line in Nashville is because I didn't want to pay the ridiculous ebay prices and I didn't want to hold merch during the show either. At one of the LA shows back in May I waited and bought merch inside the venue. Was able to get everything I wanted. Then during the show there was 2 different people sitting around me that spilled their drinks and my stuff was almost ruined. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't scenario."I got memories, I got shit"0

I can probably count on one hand the amount of things that I'd wait in line 6 hours for. Probably wouldn't even need all the fingers lol. Pearl jam merchandise is not even sniffing that list.
However......about 5-6 years ago, I once waited in line 2 hours for a special beer release so I should not be judging. People waiting in line has zero effect on my life so have at it!0 -

Probably need to switch to holding it if you see sloshers behind you. Kind of annoying but to me better than 6+ hours in line. Or bring some plastic bags and wrap your stuff a few times in it.I waited in NYC February weather outside the Beacon to make sure I got the N2 Earthings poster. My hands and toes were numb when I left and the energy drained out of me. When I went back for the actual show the poster would have been easy to get. Waste of my time and energy earlier in the day.
Same with Fenway 18 - stood in a lot of outside merch lines (early!) to make sure I got my posters. When the gates opened for the actual show I could have gotten them easily. Another waste.DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. I don’t think there’s enough talk about the relationship between high ticket prices (especially for MSG), the band encouraging folks to travel to see them through some combination of serving very specific markets/not playing many shows in said markets and going out of their way to provide a different experience each night, and the tendency of fans to flip merch AND tickets if they can for insane prices.
I’m not sure what can really be done about it at this stage. But a lot of the merch and ticket scalping that occurred as MSG had to, to some extent, be related to folks doing whatever they could to make ends meet after going above their means to afford being in attendance that night.0 -

Tend to agree with some of these points. The band plays so few shows compared to others and you are forced to travel. Eg here in the U.K. we got only 2 shows (compared say to the Killers who did 12) so it meant many of us travelled to Amsterdam, Berlin etc to see them. Turns into quite a costly activity0 -

People were flipping merch to “fund shows” when PJ played 60 shows a year and tickets were $60. It’s not a new concept unfortunately. Where there’s a buck to be made, someone will take advantage.DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. I do wonder if Nashville and St Louis were worse because they were Friday and Sunday in the US (MSG was going to be crazy anyway, but that was also a Sunday). So, more people took the entire day off on Friday than they would on a day mid-week. Haven't seen anything about the OKC merch being crazy. Curious to hear how Denver goes today.
