First night in prague without Pearl jam finished.

Kind of scared going from the metro to the off-the-path ”hotel”. Ran. Next to a highway.

Tomorrow. Another day in Prague without Pearl Jam.

I have done both. They are both hard work. If you do not have experience touring I understand it is easy to assume that it's a very cushy gig. And certainly it is a great gig. But it is not as you imagine or describe it, even at Pearl Jam's level.

We were holding onto these tickets for 2 years, I was worried about the show more than one time due to effing COVID. And know we made it through this s**t and are almost there and all we get is „deeply sorry, cancelled, refunds available“?

I can 100% understand why you feel that way. After having the dates for 2020 moved to 2021 then 2022 , they have to scape them and not keep kicking the can down the road. They may have already plotted some dates for next year that we will not hear about until Dec.

If it’s the whole tour it’s one thing but for a few dates it’s just not feasible.

all of that said I would feel the same if I was in your shoes so sorry this happened.

A barista
A server/busboy
A dishwasher
A professional songwriter/musician
In treatment for substance use disorder
Incarcerated
A sales associate at a Levi's store
A musician again
Director of Development at a nonprofit providing supports and services for people experiencing or in recovery from substance use disorders

It is not uncommon for people to hold many jobs over the course of their life. It is also not uncommon for musicians, especially ones who are not famous, to have held jobs while also being musicians. I have played to four people at a dive bar in South Dakota and 9,500 people at Red Rocks. Touring is hard, hard work. Trolling people on a message board is far less demanding.

Yah, I don't think people realize how grueling the touring lifestyle can be on people.

Brian Johnson form AC/DC has this documentary show, and on one of the episodes (I forgot who he was chatting with) they talked about the lengths they went through to make it work. Tour Europe, setup Paris or something as a central hub, fly out to the next city, do the show, fly back to paris. have the families there, and try to have some kind of consistency while touring.

There's something to be said for sleeping in your own bed in a familiar place every night without having to travel. I don't think i'd make a good touring musician. I don't tend to lave home for more than week very often.. lol.

Truly disappointed!! But I met so many cool people at the beer garden party tonight in Prague that I began to have fun despite the circumstances. Sometimes, commiserating with others makes things seem not so bad. We all love this band, but also this fan base is truly special and I enjoyed meeting all of you who were there tonight.

Consider his singing style, I'm surprised his voice has had up as well as it has over the years. Add heat and pollution, and it's no wonder he's having trouble Short lived trouble, I hope!

My own personal rule when traveling for a band is that I’ll never travel to a place for a show where I wouldn’t otherwise visit on its own. Sucks that the show was cancelled for sure. I hope you still find time to enjoy Prague and Europe etc! Stay safe all
