Hunter Biden Laptop Controversy

Can someone point me to a legitimate story on this whole Hunter Biden laptop thing?  All the conservative rags are screaming at the top of their lungs "See!  We told you so...Hunter is a criminal and the NYT just admitted they covered it all up!  If this truth had come out in 2020, Trump would still be president!  Hunter is a child pornographer and sold government secrets and Joe profited!  Etc. etc. etc".  So the problems I've found are:

1 - The supposed NYT story is behind a paywall that I will not subscribe to just to find this BS out.
2 - All, and I mean all, stories I can find point back to a conservative rag that, sorry, I just don't trust.  I like to make sure independent and/or multiple sides of the political spectrum or foreign press are picking it up too.

I don't want my head in the sand and I want to make sure my internal biases don't ignore this if it IS is fact a real story, I just can't find the substance behind the outrage, and yes I know 'consider the source'.  Anyone have any good info on this?

    It's conclusion was this...
    Guy at laptop repair store obtains HB's laptop. He finds Giuliani to take it. Was it the same stuff that was reportedly circulating in Ukraine? 18 months later we still don't know....even though Giuliani had the laptop. What does that tell you? 

    These reports by the NYT just make the story seem more important than it is. It's right wing bullshit.

    From what I've read, this whole story is an overblown load of crap.  I can't believe it's getting so much traction.  But then, this is 2022, people are bored, people love scandals, so it should not surprise me.

    I saw it all over some Reddit forums and noticed it's all over right-wing media.  The Conservatives are making it news story #1, so I'm trying to find the real details on it.  I'm aware of the original story from a few years back and that it was basically a non-story, but they're making it seem like some big smoking gun was just revealed.  Is it just the fact that an investigation is ongoing that they're pointing to?

    I was thinking the same thing. I didn’t even know it was a story again until I saw it last night mentioned here.
    I was interested at first, a year ago or whenever it was. If Biden was making deals or using his influence that’s newsworthy. But at this point I figure if there was a bombshell in there it would have been released by now.

    In a sense....and that isn't news. The news was the Hunter paid off his tax debt which likely means he can't be criminally prosecuted.

    Now....maybe something will come out of it. Who knows. It's all speculation at this point.

    The main thing to take from this is that if the major media isn't covering it there likely isn't anything there (yet at least.).

    That is really hard for magats to swallow but that is just how it is.  There is real news and shit news.  They listen to shit.

    The Two Rules of US political investigations, 

    1, when the subject is a Republican it’s a waste of taxpayer money witch hunt, nothing to look at, even if five cops end up dead after the Capitol was breached.

    2, when it’s a democrat, run ‘em out of office, lock her up, she’s a crook, Hunter is a crackhead and it’s all Joes fault
