"The insurers are the ones making these dictates. This is not the Rolling Stones or Elton John [making these calls]. This is the insurers. They are insisting that they won’t pay out if you cancel because of Covid. That’s the first thing. And secondly, if they do pay out, they only pay out 85 percent. And thirdly, they up their charges from 2.5 percent to 5 percent and now to 8 percent of the gross income on a tour."
Now I'm curious if this isn't the real reason why the new dates haven't been announced yet. Those tickets were priced and sold pre-Covid. Now the band has substantially more costs to tour due to Covid. I wonder if the reason for the delay in the tour rescheduling are a function of the fact that costs for the tour, as well as the economic risks from rescheduling the shows, have gone up substantially while the revenue is locked in.

1. Crazy prices / TM platinum...somewhat justifiably as insurance costs and inflation are through the roof (plus the need to make up some lost income from 2020-21), but many people also are spending their previous concert budget elsewhere (look at vinyl prices, for example) and/or are also getting squeezed elsewhere with inflation
2. Hesitancy to attend shows or travel out of COVID fear, and potentially also some people not wanting to comply with venue COVID policies and staying home for that reason
3. Date changes, fear of cancellation or rescheduling leading to more people purchasing tickets week or day of an event
I am blessed to live a 10-15min trip from numerous venues and have tried to take advantage of the situation. Have scored absolutely unthinkable deals on great seats several times over the last 6 months or so.
I do expect PJ to be different, however. PJ tickets have always been next level in terms of demand."I got memories, I got shit"0 -

It's also the TM holdback/release schedule...98% of those tickets weren't available for months. Yes, some pairs are FTF sales particularly due to the date change, but all those entire rows are new releases by TM0

Regarding concerns over PJ touring again and dealing with the (very valid) logistical nightmare from insurers (this is a big one) to crew to covid bubbles...ugh...they did reschedule the whole Europe tour. So they're moving forward. It's just a question of how and when.
And as others have mentioned, trying to finish the tour in May could be very different in logistics than a new one next Fall. However, the insurance issues are very likely the same and the COVID restrictions for the band/crew may be directly tied to insurers so it could be difficult to project a more lax environment in the Fall even though that's likely happening.Mansfield 6/30/08 - Wrigley Field 7/14/13 - Worcester I 10/15/13 - Global Citizen 9/26/15 - MSG II 5/2/16 - Fenway I 8/5/16 - Fenway II 8/7/16 - Fenway II 9/4/18 - LA I 5/6/22 - LA II 5/7/22 - MSG 9/11/22 - Nashville 9/16/22 - St. Paul I and II 8/31/23-9/2/23 - Napa 5/25/24 - MSG I 9/3/24 - MSG II 9/4/24 - Hollywood FL I 4/24/25 - Hollywood FL II 4/26/250 -

Will they have to build in “buffer weeks” of no shows in case they need to reschedule dates due to band/crew Covid positive case? Not sure if they can pull off a long stretch of dates in one go - would certainly be a dice roll.
Will ticket sales be down due to reduction of traveling fans due to fear of cancelation? All of those available EV tickets are alarming. Will be curious to see how many sell before they hit the stage.Rescheduling and ticket refunding surely changes the economics. Plus insurance costs as stated. If MSG is the venue with the highest demand and lowest refunds - bring it on! My job requires my vacation dates through August to be requested by Feb. 28. I have tickets for Denver through L.A. So I'm really sweating this one out. No idea how I navigate that if PJ announces spring/summer tour after my vacation window closes.0
