Yesterday was my birthday......and I DIDN'T GO TO THIS SHOW!!!!!!

I could have died happy after seeing this setlist!!! A MUCH more varied setlist than I expected for a festival show! Props to the band, and shame on me for not going.

Still shaking out the cob webs after what was a really long night but here's some details. So this is my 3rd Bonnaroo and having Pearl Jam there was like having two of my best friends meet for the first time and loving each other. Got up there about 3/4 of the way through BB King's set and started jockeying for position as the anticipation was really starting to build. Jack Johnson came out to an incredibly warm reception and played a killer set. He said at one point "are you guys as excited as I am to see Pearl Jam?" He then brought out Eddie to play a Jack song (Constellations I think). That was an exciting moment because it was our first glimpse of Eddie.

The stage set up is really cool with a big screen behind them with a wave mural and then two big PJ banners on each side of the stage. The lights go out and everyone goes nuts. Hard to Imagine was a great opener and he had the crowd singing instantly. If there was any question that this crowd belonged to PJ it was answered right then. Courdoroy was awesome and then All Night threw some people off but still sounded awesome. Who You Are is a song I've been waiting to hear for a long time. In preparation for this show I hadn't checked the setlists from the previous nights but someone had mentioned they played Who You Are so I had a feeling it was coming. They've reworked the drum intro and they nailed it, absolutely beautiful.

Half Full ripped, Mike did a blistering solo. Before Gone Eddie says that on January 8th, 2001 when Bush took office that gas was 1.56 a gallon and now it's 4.50. He said he wrote this next song when it was at about 2.75 and played Gone. Just mentioning Bush got mixed response from the crowd. Not like the San Francisco crowds I'm used to. Love Reign O'er Me was really solid, Eddie really put it down on this one.

During the first encore the camera man zoomed in on the setlist so we knew what was coming. I saw No More coming up and wondered how it would go with the crowd. Eddie comes out and says "we were talking backstage and you guys really remind us of a crowd at a festival in Amsterdam. All I need now is for you to tell me to go fuck myself in Dutch, Don't worry you'll get your chance in a bit" a reference to No More? I don't know. WMA sounded really, really good. Reworked just enough and it extended out nicely.

For the 2nd Encore he came out alone and told the story of the guy from Body of War. He recently slipped into a coma and Eddie was obviously affected by it, in fact he seemed to be battling a lot of emotion all night. He said I know there's a time and a place to talk about this stuff but I'm pissed!!! He then talked about how the 80,000 people here have the power to change the world. The crowd came around for No More and really made it a nice sing along. Eddie said that if we sang along he'd said Thomas the tape. I had seen Release on the setlist and thought it was really odd to be played so late. Eddie talked about how their friend had lost their Father the day before and he was going to play this for him. The most amazing Release ever with Eddie crying throughout.

To backtrack a second suring the 2nd encore break the crowd starting singing Alive on it's own, in fact it sounded like the whole crowd was signing it so Alive was a big hit when they played not to mention that I think Eddie was into bottle of wine number 3 by that point. Yellow Ledbetter and Indifference were on the setlist as the closers but they must have changed it up and went with Watchtower.

All in all the most amazing PJ show I have been to. I was proud to be a PJ fan. The band really, really brought it and I have a feeling will go down in Bonnaroo history as one of their best headliner ever, hands down the best in my book. Sorry for the long review but last night's show was a marathon, not to mention Kanye West finally coming onstage at 4:30 in the morning and playing until the sun came up. Bonnaroo is nuts, absolutely nuts!!!

Pearl Jam wows Bonnaroo with 3-hour performance

MANCHESTER, Tenn. (AP) — Pearl Jam wowed the Bonnaroo crowd with a three-hour performance late Saturday night, returning the band to the grand stage of a music festival.

In the midst of their concert — which went almost an hour longer than scheduled — lead singer Eddie Vedder acknowledged that the band thought they might never again play such a show — and "with good reason." In the summer of 2000, nine fans were trampled during Pearl Jam's performance at Denmark's Roskilde Festival — an experience that shook the band.

There were no mishaps at Bonnaroo, though, and Vedder's faith in festivals appeared to be restored.

"After seeing B.B. King and Jack Johnson and Cat Power, it makes you realize how it can work and be really ... great," Vedder said, referring to acts that played earlier Saturday. Pearl Jam also played Lollapalooza last year.

If he wasn't already, Vedder appeared completely converted to the joys of mega festivals when the band played "Better Man." The audience sang along and lifted lighters in the air, and only then did Vedder realize how large the crowd was. He muttered, "That's ... beautiful."

Pearl Jam was the main stage headliner Saturday at the annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, which is held on a giant 700-acre site south of Nashville. Kanye West was to play a glow-in-the-dark set beginning at 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

The Friday night bill was led by comedian Chris Rock, who was followed by Metallica. Though the heavy metal band played a generally admired set, the Pearl Jam audience seemed larger and arguably more enthusiastic.

Vedder spoke frequently on politics and the need for change.

"It is proven that this many people can change world," Vedder said to the tens of thousands. "This has to be the time. It can't get any worse."

Others playing Saturday included Ben Folds, Against Me!, Sigur Ros and B.B. King, who was honored with the key to Manchester by the city's mayor, Betty Superstein. King, 82, showed his age by performing — as he has for years — seated. He rattled off a list of ailments: diabetes, a bad back, bad knees.

"I can't remember anything, but I can remember that I am no 82-years-old," he said as the audience applauded. King showed he could still put on an excellent show.

Early Saturday began with a deluge that came while My Morning Jacket performed their late night set through the early morning hours. The Louisville-based outfit is something like the Bonnaroo house band; this was their fifth time at the festival, held annually south of Nashville on a giant 700-acre campsite.

Though the heat had broken, the band's singer Jim James led them into a cover of Sly and the Family Stone's "Hot Fun in the Summertime," and later, a funky cover of Funkadelic's classic "Hit it and Quit." My Morning Jacket, long a rising star, again cemented its reputation as a pre-eminent live performer.

The sun later emerged as Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings brought their warm, old-school soul to the Bonnaroo masses, who cheered wildly.

"I wear this dress so I can shake it," Jones informed the crowd, calling it her "Tina Turner dress".

The four-day festival was to come to a close Sunday with performances scheduled for Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Death Cab for Cutie and Widespread Panic, among others.

holy shit that has to be the best set list in the last 10yrs and i believe it won't be duplicated so i hope people don't expect this for the rest of the tour this was saved for this special night i'm so happy for the people that witnessed this now please 10c make this available on cd ......holy shit ALL NIGHT .....i'm speechless ....

This is going to go down in history as the best tour of all time when all is said and done. But there is a very good chance that this show will be the hit of the tour, when all is said and done ...

i would love to believe that to be the case ,but that show last night is the best set list i have seen bar none it won't be duplicated ....
