Like... is he just punking us?  Who releases a statement that references some other terrible event, while defending current terrible event?

Former President Donald Trump is under criminal investigation in Georgia for trying to coerce state officials into overturning his election loss there, but on Thursday called those efforts “even more” perfect than his 2019 attempt to extort Ukraine into smearing his political opponent ― for which he was later impeached.

“My phone call to the Secretary of State of Georgia was perfect, perhaps even more so than my call with the Ukrainian President, if that’s possible,” Trump wrote in a statement released by his political committee.

Love the "if that's possible." Who writes like that?

Can you imagine Sydney Powell being a special prosecutor? Holy shit we dodge a bullet by the skin of our teeth last year. The threat remains, however.

I'm interested to see if some of these people turn on tRump in an attempt to save their own asses. You know that Powell was being encouraged by someone (Giuliani?) to pursue these ridiculous ways to keep tRump in power. If I am her and I knew that the direction was coming from tRump and now he has abandoned me I would be dragging his ass down with me. tRump is still playing golf and she is likely going through her life savings right now.

Judges approve special grand jury in Georgia election probe
    By KATE BRUMBACK

ATLANTA (AP) — Judges have approved a request for a special grand jury by the Georgia prosecutor who's investigating whether former President Donald Trump and others broke the law by trying to pressure Georgia officials to throw out Joe Biden's presidential election victory.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis last week sent a letter to county superior court Chief Judge Christopher Brasher asking him to impanel a special grand jury. Brasher issued an order Monday saying the request was considered and approved by a majority of the superior court judges.

The special grand jury is to be seated May 2 for a period of up to a year, Brasher's order says. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney is assigned to supervise and assist the special grand jury.

Willis wrote in her letter to Brasher that her office “has received information indicating a reasonable probability that the State of Georgia’s administration of elections in 2020, including the State’s election of the President of the United States, was subject to possible criminal disruptions.” She said her office has “opened an investigation into any coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections in this state.”

I think tRump will fall back on an ignorance defense. He will claim he was relying on bad information that caused him to contact Raffensperger, etc.

He refers to all kinds of shit in the transcript. People telling him there were 300,000 uncounted votes, that thousands of dead people voted, etc.

Willis wrote in her letter to Brasher that her office “has received information indicating a reasonable probability that the State of Georgia’s administration of elections in 2020, including the State’s election of the President of the United States, was subject to possible criminal disruptions.” She said her office has “opened an investigation into any coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections in this state.”

    continues....

It will be interesting to see what comes out of this. The phone call is some amazing evidence.

this should also include lindsey's call earlier that caused Raffensperger to record fuckstick to begin with.

problem seems to be a telegraphed lack of cooperation from gop elected officials.
I think tRump will fall back on an ignorance defense. He will claim he was relying on bad information that caused him to contact Raffensperger, etc.

He refers to all kinds of shit in the transcript. People telling him there were 300,000 uncounted votes, that thousands of dead people voted, etc.

claim away. ignorance of the law is no excuse.
but it's not ignorance of the law...it's ignorance of the data being presented to him (supposedly...I don't believe that for a second but it seems like he was throwing a lot of numbers out there to cover his ass)

all they have to prove is that the intent was there. and by the audio recordings i have heard, clearly the intent was there.

i think he may try to defend himself by saying rudy, kraken, and other trusted advisors and lawyers were telling him that there was a bunch of fraud in georgia and had they not told him that he would not have been on the call. i would actually bet that is what he will say. that he was acting at the legal recommendation of his attorneys.
