‘He never stopped ripping things up’: Inside Trump’s relentless document destruction habits

Trump’s shredding of paper in the White House was far more widespread and indiscriminate than previously known and — despite multiple admonishments — extended throughout his presidency.

President Donald Trump tore up briefings and schedules, articles and letters, memos both sensitive and mundane.

He ripped paper into quarters with two big, clean strokes — or occasionally more vigorously, into smaller scraps.

He left the detritus on his desk in the Oval Office, in the trash can of his private West Wing study and on the floor aboard Air Force One, among many other places.

And he did it all in violation of the Presidential Records Act, despite being urged by at least two chiefs of staff and the White House counsel to follow the law on preserving documents.

“It is absolutely a violation of the act,” said Courtney Chartier, president of the Society of American Archivists. “There is no ignorance of these laws. There are White House manuals about the maintenance of these records.”

Although glimpses of Trump’s penchant for ripping were reported earlier in his presidency — by Politico in 2018 — the House select committee’s investigation into the Jan. 6 insurrection has shined a new spotlight on the practice. The Washington Post reported that some of the White House records the National Archives and Records Administration turned over to the committee appeared to have been torn apart and then taped back together.

I remember reading the article from 2018 and thinking how illegal it was and how typical of him to avoid accountability. It didn’t register anywhere in Congress but by then I wasn’t surprised since accepting assistance in the election from Russia didn’t either.

Latest target of the far-right, pro-Trump, pro-wall contingent is a butterfly sanctuary on the US-Mexico border. It has had to close due to threats to the director and staff from QAnoners, who baselessly claim, once again, that it's a haven for child sex trafficking and illegal immigration. The director was allegedly told she should "be armed at all times or get out of town".

Coincidentally I'm sure, it's in the path of the border wall and threats began after the centre pushed back against construction of the wall right through the sanctuary.

Remember how upset tRumpsters got at Hillary's emails? Not only did the tRumps get busted using their personal email accounts we now see that tRump likely had documents destroyed.

His former aid Omarosa was on the news this morning saying she remembered seeing tRump actually eating some of his notes.

Come to find out she brought this up almost four years ago

But Hillary’s emails divulged the location of the child sex trafficking ring while POOTWH’s “notes” and crayon scribbles laid out in detail how to MAGA. Big fucking difference.

I heard that Hillary’s email servers are in Ukraine with Hunter’s lap tops and that’s why Putin on the ritz is invading. Gonna blow the roof off the mothersucker!

He is so stupid. The way he moves his knees along with the fist pumps is hilarious.

And the fucking finger pointing. Like he's anointing people or something.

Reminds me of my cat making biscuits.
