So they’re not getting it. They suffer the consequences of their  decision and society in general does as well due to their selfishness.

Corporations (corporations are people too, my friends), businesses (no cake for you) are allowed to mandate things, as is the government. Sorry you, General you, don’t like those mandates but you have choices. See, isn’t America great?

I was in nyc two weekends ago and traveled from Wall Street to mid town to the Bronx and points in between. Saw cops everywhere, walking beats, manning street closures, sitting in patrol cars, talking to people and oh my god, arresting someone. Saw piles of trash as businesses closed and heard the trash trucks in the night. Next morning piles were gone. Had to show proof of vaccine to enter establishments to eat or drink and a large number of folks were wearing masks. Only real difference was that the subway wasn’t packed but much easier to navigate. Monihayn train station is amazing and the 9/11 memorial area has really grown in nicely. Everywhere was busy. Oh and the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel was jammed creating grid lock on Canal Street snd soho little Italy on Friday night. NYC like I remember it.

And one side is not mandating or advocating vaccines “to prove a point.” Almost 750,000 dead Americans. Guess the antivaxxers have proven their point? There’s gonna be another wave of death coming soon too. How does a cop, firefighter or garbage person on a ventilator or with long covid do their jobs effectively? Number 1 killer of cops is covid. Your body, your choice, live with the consequences of your decision.

90+% compliance in Boston and Massachusetts. 

I understand the immediate public safety concerns in NYC, but the vaccines have been proven to be overwhelmingly safe & effective. Maybe these people shouldn’t be police & firefighters if they’re willing to risk public safety and that of their peers to make a political statement. 

I’m not arguing with any of that but what makes you so certain that it’s a political statement? Why can’t it just be their decision? Did you GET vaccinated to make a political statement? “These people” run towards danger to save lives. Would you? Not sure I would honestly. Its just narrow minded to judge them on a personal decision and assume it’s political. But hey, what do I know. I don’t come to conclusions or opinions based on politics.

I think there is a large number of people that aren’t just trying to make a “political statement” and that this fact gets overlooked.  I know a few nurses and doctors that haven’t got the shots yet because they want to see long term data against a technology that is being put into widespread use for the first time.  Granted these professionals are all getting tested, wearing masks etc, but they aren’t doing it to prove a political point.

Why can’t they be subjected to weekly testing ? It’s basically about 25-30% that are holding out. What good is that if more people lose their lives because of slow response times and less cops? Aren’t we trying to save lives? It’s just an endless loop of political nonsense. There are less ambulances out as well because of EMTs that are holding out. 

Weekly testing costs companies money.  You keep saying things are irrelevant but they are.  It’s easier to get the shot so we have the same right as you to say “just get the shot”. Sooner or later this will affect the non vaccinated (themselves or loved one, friend) and they’ll boo hoo that they should have got the shot and tell everyone else to get the shot.  That’s what is going to stop this pandemic, when there’s minimal amounts of unvaccinated left.  These people will be ridiculed severely when this is written about in the future.  It’s disgusting how selfish some people are.  Lack of empathy is usually reserved for the serial killers and people who aren’t capable of understanding it but it obviously exists in the unvaccinated as well. For God’s sake even animals possess empathy.
