    So, at this point, a year and a half in, there are millions dead from CoVID (excess deaths - as in not statistically able to be explained). There are clear indications that getting the vaccine reduces the likelihood of becoming severely ill.     I don’t know where we go from here in NYC. The trash is piling up, fire houses are shutting down, police force is short handed. Why can’t the unvaccinated just be subjected to weekly testing? These are essential services, especially in the city. And we are seeing the consequences. The mayor and governor are not affected by these consequences. Thousands of flights cancelled again this weekend because of “worker shortages”. These are not professions that we can just fill with random vaccinated people. We’re at a stand still here with vaccine progress. I think it’s time to let this go honestly. This year somehow feels worse than last year around me personally. Crazy times.

    It’s in effect. I’m hoping this is just a temporary gap of waiting for them to get the jab then get back to work. If it stays like this, we’re in trouble here. There’s garbage everywhere and response times are suffering. Apparently 26 firehouses shut down as well around NYC. Again, I hope this is temporary. All
    i know is none of this is helping change the mind of the unvaccinated. It’s actually doing the opposite.

    If we start to lose people being on board with the vaccination then this will all be for nothing. If people don’t get boosters or an annual shot or  whatever will be recommended, then what? I’m not here arguing agenda or science. I’m just coming from a real place of seeing what’s going on around me and getting a little concerned.

    The NY Post article reporting 26 firehouses being “out of service” or “shuttered” also included the following:

    “Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro said the department “has not closed any firehouses“

    “Irresponsible bogus sick leave by some of our members is creating a danger for New Yorkers and their fellow Firefighters,” Nigro said. “They need to return to work or risk the consequences of their actions.”

    As the treatments continue to improve,  I think vax requirements will become unnecessary. The parallels with the influenza pandemic of 1918 are pretty clear I think.

    Why can’t it be both? My employer requires fully vaxxed and testing, the number of which is determined by the number of days you’re in the office. Not fully vaxxed? Put on unpaid administrative leave and termination process starts. 99.2% are fully vaxxed. What is so hard about this? The cops can go work in Flo Rida and get a $5K bonus from Deathsantis. Choices, isn’t America great?

    Cool story! You don’t like it move to another state! Great solution. While the politicians and unvaccinated have a standoff, tons of people are put in harms way so both sides could prove a point. Not sure what you do for a living but do peoples lives depend on your profession?
