Again, great race. Congratulations to Ocon and Alpine. Great comeback by Hamilton, but he is such a whiner.

Vettel DQ’d over technicality and loses 2nd place.
it is a rule, but hopefully they can appeal

Wow, mercedes has a new race strategy - take out the Red Bulls.  That fuel rule is total BS.  Russell ran out of fuel, asking for a sample at the end of a race is ridiculous. I wonder if it was Horner or Wolff that asked the FIA to take a sample.  Otherwise great race, very entertaining.

    Vettel appeal dismissed.

Not bored at all, bummed about Japan GP being cancelled.

Yeah that is a downer for sure, it will be interesting to see if they manage to find a replacement.

In the meantime I've been playing a good bit of Microsoft Flight Simulator if anyone wants some F1 trivia!

Last chance to win at home for Honda, real bummer.  Could mean an additional weekend in Austin.

So psyched to be back at a race in Oct.  High up on the turn 12 grandstand, the place to be!

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a viable option as a replacement race.  The new track owner, Roger Penske has said he would love for F1 to return.  The track runs a grand prix race for Indy Car currently.  The track itself has seen numerous improvements since Penske purchased it.  I imagine Penske could make this happen in a heartbeat.  F1 on the other hand ....

For sim fans, the new F1 2021 game is really good.  The series has always been good, but the latest seems to be done well and looks and runs great on the new Series X and PS5 (I've played series X).  The new story mode, "Breaking Point" is done really well ... I usually don't play the story modes in sports games but really enjoyed this one.  The game settings also let you dial it in to your liking's ... going full assist off is challenging ... curbs, or "kerbs" will make you dizzy.  Getting ready to do career mode next which is supposed to have streamlined things to avoid the grind for those with less time to play video games.

Also, I think this is the first time I've sim raced at Circuit Zandvoort ... wow, that is an awesome track.  I've sim raced a lot and I can't remember a track that left a big smile on my face like that track did after the 1st lap.

Yeah, unfortunately, this happens. Reminded me of  Austin 2015.  Bummer that the FIA has to force a conclusion due to contractual obligations I suspect.

Crazy track in the Netherlands!  Kimi out with Covid.  Max and Lewis on the front row.  Should be a great race.
  • erebuserebus Posts: 549
Yes, track looks crazy. Hopefully everyone stays on it and there are no red flags like qualifying. Hopefully there are good passing opportunities.

end of an era for Kimi, I will miss him. I will have to choose a new driver to cheer for next year

The track was cool, the fans amazing and congratulations to Max on the win, but I still found the race still lacking something…..
plus the majority of the field being lapped twice is never good

Agree.  The track is cool, and the spectacle was fully on in Holland. Watching Max win was something special.  But I agree that some of these shorter circuits are not ideal for the modern F1 car. The last thing F1 needs is another track where overtaking is difficult, even if the banking and elevation make the visuals more appealing.

Holy shit, Lewis got really lucky. Max’s wheel hit Lewis’s helmet in the crash.

So happy for Danny Ric to get the win. And the 1-2 with Lando was great for Maclaren.

Lewis very lucky.  Verstappen penalized three grid spots for the next race. Great season so far.  Can't wait for Austin!
