Slightly off topic, but I scored a near mint 1969 original US pressing of Let it Bleed this week.  Man it sounds so good, and beautifully analog.  While the reissues from Clearly Vinyl and the others have been pretty good, they just don't compare with the originals.  I think you can tell they are digital.

It just keeps on coming.  Sad stuff this morning.  But by all accounts, he lived a good life and was a good guy.

    RIP Charlie.

Wow.  Stones are the only band I like more than PJ.  Charlie was a class act and easily the most respected man in the band by the band members. What a loss

Mostly agree for me too (only difference is there are a couple of bands that have slid ahead of PJ in the last few years).  Yeah, sad day.

I think they’ll continue with the tour.  More of a tribute to him to play it than cancel it.  God bless you Charlie Watts.

    That sucks.

I'm feeling pretty lucky that I caught the Seattle show the summer before Covid started.    It's probably bad it took me so long to see them, but at the same time I got to see them before the pandemic, and got to see Charlie behind the kit.

If they in fact tour, I would bet austin  is the last stones show ever.  It's the last show on the tour.  I don't see them adding new shows if they in fact tour (unless maybe a London show).  I suspect they may tour since they already planned for the shows with a replacement.

Who do you like other than the Stones and PJ?
  • vant0037vant0037 Posts: 6,061
    The War On Drugs
    Kurt Vile
    Run The Jewels

All of that is arguable and depending on the day.  There was a long time where I listened to PJ a lot.  But over the last 5 years or so, I’ve been less intrigued and for me, those three are bands that I’ve found myself very interested in far more than PJ. TWoD especially.

But it’s more just that my tastes have changed rather than anything PJ has done (although I have a hard time forgiving them for “Sleeping By Myself”). Lots of random stuff.  Rap.  Just a weird mix.

I’ll also say that with how much money they make per tour…and I’m not suggesting they are greedy or anything…but they make a TON of money each tour.  Frankly, if they’re healthy and put on a good show, I’d still see them the next time and time again.  I think there are a lot of people who feel that way.  So I hear ya that this could be the end, but I could also see it going the other way too.

Hate that this was associated with Robert Kraft, but good to see and hear the band together.  Kind of cool to see the setlist vary some.  Tour starts Sunday!

Nashville song vote might be the most even collection of choices I've ever seen since they started doing it:

    Sweet Virginia
    Wild Horses
    Far Away Eyes
    Let It Bleed
    Dead Flowers
