Question.  I have RS tickets for Chicago but thinking about selling them and putting that money toward seeing PJ in Chicago instead.  I already have tickets for PJ in Indy (where I live).  I can't really afford both Chicago shows with the hotel expenses, etc.  So I need to pick one.  I'm literally 50/50 on this.  PJ is my favorite band.  RS are top 5 for me.  Seen PJ only once in my life, which is a dam shame.  Never seen the RS.  WTF do I do?
I've seen PJ thirty times and I just saw the Stones for the first time a few weeks ago.  If you absolutely can only do one of these shows- see the Stones.  They are 80- time is running out.

So we were in London in 2018 for PJ, both nights.  Night 1 was an OK show, but Ed was off.  Night 2…gets cancelled.  Rewind to 3 months before when I am literally torn to shreds about even going to night 2, because that same night, the Stones are playing London across town.  The Stones!  In London!  I’m soooo torn because in terms of catalogue - forgive me - in terms of groove and songwriting and sneer and pure energetic shit that gets stuck in my soul - ducks! - I’d pick the Stones over PJ 99/100 days. So I was already feeling torn as hell by not going.

So when PJ cancelled night 2, we got some nosebleeds for the Stones…in London, had a wild night, saw a great show, and have not regretted it one second.  I’ve seen PJ 30 times too, and I am so glad it all unfolded that way.

The moral of this story is: never travel to see a band to a place you wouldn’t also visit on its own. Show cancelled in London?  We saw the Stones.

My two cents: pick the Stones.

Eat Ramen, sleep in the car, and do both :)
I would do this if it was just me. But the wife isn’t going to go for that.

Both is what I’m leaning toward. It won’t break me financially. It’s just a lot and I’m a cheapskate by nature!

I was there too.  One of the best shows I've ever seen and I can't believe I considered selling my tickets!

Saw this on Facebook.  Lotta love for the great Harvey Mandel:

    Almost a Rolling Stone
Its true, says Harvey “The Snake“ Mandel, "I was almost a Rolling Stone…. When Mick Taylor left the Stones, I know that at first, they offered the job to Jeff Beck and of course he turned them down. They had a few different guys in there and then they decided to try me and I came there not just to audition, but to play on the "Black And Blue" record, which is "Hot Stuff" and "Memory Motel", the hits off that album.
I'm doing all the guitar on both of those songs and a big fight breaks out in the studio. There was an argument pretty much between Mick Jagger, who wanted me, and Keith Richards who wanted to hire Ron Wood. So, they had their little argument. Keith Richards wanted Ron Wood 'cause he wanted to keep it all English. Mick Jagger wanted a guy like me to replace Mick Taylor. ‘Sit in the background, play cool guitar, stay out of the way, and let them do their show,” Jagger said. Mick Taylor didn't go out and jump around and go crazy and do the Jagger thing. Jagger and Keith Richards were the show, the stars. Mick Taylor was in the background playing the magic guitar. That's what I wanted to do and that's what I think they had the original idea to do with me as a possible candidate for that. Unfortunately, because of Keith Richards, I got aced out.” – Harvey Mandel
Harvey is "The innovative guitarist," he is Zen-like, and he is "Going where no one has gone before." But his health isn’t going where we want. He still needs our help big-time to battle crushing medical debt. We’ve set up a GoFundMe page. Will you please consider donating – any amount will be a wonderful gift to Harvey.
