    Our local school board met last night and had to deal with anti-mask idiots.  The board even had a pediatrician attend and give his opinion but the idiots know more about science apparently.

    a friend of mine is married to a guy who slowly got crazier and crazier over the pandemic about anti-vaccination. when she got her first shot along with their kids, he refused to be in the same house as them for a whole week because of "protein shedding". Same thing with the second shot. Then mutual friends saw on the news a quote from him, full name and everything, comparing anti-vaxxers to Rosa Parks. "at least she had a seat on the bus" was part of it. 

    She is seriously considering how she's going to stay married to this loon.

    Not until Sept 20th. I'm not sure why they won't allow this to begin immediately. A lot of breakthrough cases can happen in a month that didn't need to.

    Looking like a lot of states are hitting plateaus for cases or even starting to slide the other way thankfully. The obvious states are still in a lot of trouble but hopefully the majority have seen the peak of the delta wave. School being in now or soon changes things of course it will be interesting to see how September plays out.

    Yeah, returning to being inside with weather changes....hope things can be lower before that happens because it would seem to naturally lead to more folks getting it due to indoor proximity.

    It sounds like there's no good reason to jump the line on a booster, that the only people who need one before eight months are the immunocompromised.
    All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

    Israel is now requiring anyone over the age of three to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test before entering many indoor spaces, as it tackles a sharp rise in infections. - bbc

    Fortunately, their covid tests are free for this age group.

    Mr Zarka also noted that no-one who was currently in a critical condition in hospital had received a booster shot.

    I received my Moderna booster today. When my doctor found out I had the J&J shot, he was insistent I get a Moderna shot asap. I’m not immunocompromised.

    That's interesting. I've been waiting (and waiting) to hear what the stance on J&J is. One of my kids opted for J&J, thinking it would have fewer side-effects than Moderna (wrong!). I've assumed for a while that J&J would need a booster, and I would have preferred that my kid get an mRNA vaccine, but it wasn't my decision to make.

    Our immuno-suppressed family member has received their booster, which is a big source of relief to all of us.

    I had no option, it was the only shot I could get an appointment for (Javits Center NYC at 2:00 in the morning). I wanted to be vaccinated as soon as possible, I was ecstatic to get the appt.
