Have you dinosaur fans heard of the band Earthless? I learned in the black crowes thread that the earthless dude is playing with the crowes. anyway, is it just me, or do these guys have a dinosaur vibe?

Whoa!  Isaiah Mitchell is with Black Crows?  I have to hear some of that!
Great video!  Earthless are a great band.  It's a bit surprising Isaiah Mitchell isn't as well recognized as you might think.  Hell of a good guitar player!

I have this record of theirs which you'd probably like, Rhythms From a Cosmic Sky

Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky Vinyl LP Album Limited Edition Repress album cover

And this one, your Dinosaur Jr/ Earthless tie-in, is really cool.  Four sides, one looooong song, with J Mascis, and Mario Rubalcaba and Mike Eginton from Earthless (drums and bass in your video above), and Graham Clise, guitar player for Witch, a band that Mascis plays drums in.  Clise is in neither Earthless nor Heavy Blanket so this really should maybe called "Earthless Meets Heavy Blanket Meets Witch"... but in any case, it's a cool record!

Isaiah is good but, from the clips I've seen, he's not quite the fit that Marc Ford, Luther Dickinson or Jackie Green were with the Crowes.

Yeah, come to think of it, with his style- more jamming, less songs- maybe not the best fit.  Might have to check some out just to see.

Saw the Black Crowes with Isiah last week. I can tell you, he is one hell of a good fit. He nails the BC vibe and pulls off their material super well.

Also, Earthless is fucking awesome! "Live from the Mojave Desert" is in my CD player right now. Killer band that really brings it.

I sure he did, but you kinda need Marc Ford, stoned on heroin. :no_mouth:

Hmmmm. should I continue to derail this thread or the Crowes thread?

 I'll stick with this one

Brian - you're even older than me...you've heard it all...I've spent a good part of the day in the youtube/wikipedia vortex...turns out Isaiah was also in a band named howlin' rain...do you know them? seems I may have to check them out.

and, just for fun since you've heard everyone, how about red fang? their videos are hilarious.

I think that one of the things I love about music, Rob, I'll never hear it all, there's always something new!  I hadn't heard either of those bands.  That Howlin Rain video is great- I like the singing, and the intensity, whoa!

Those Red Fang videos are hilarious!
    Thanks for putting 'em up!

It's pretty strange to see J standing in front of a bunch of random Fender amps instead of his wall of Marshalls, though.

Was just reading about that on their site:

First Leg Fall Tour Dates Postponed

Due to the rise Covid cases and hospitalizations along with the impact that the Delta variant is having at the moment, Dinosaur Jr. will postpone the first leg of their fall tour, through October 2nd. In the hope that conditions improve in the coming weeks, the band intends to proceed with the November 2021 and all 2022 dates as planned. Please stay tuned for information on the rescheduled September dates and please visit point of purchase to inquire about your tickets.

    From J:
I’m really bummed that we’re not playing these shows. I miss touring and miss all of you. I’m grateful for your understanding, and I hope all of you are able to stay safe.
