River Cross is one of my favorites. I am still loving Gigaton just the way it is0

I also find the tracklist weird, with starting with all the OUMPH! and then just have a string of slow songs."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

I don't dislike Never Destination, but if they had to get it down to 10 songs that one is the most "this is a template for a rock song" out of the songs on the album.
(River Cross is better than Retrograde though, even with it being tarnished)I miss igotid880 -

If people actually gave it a chance and didn't prejudge because they didn't like Dance.
I miss igotid880 -
I gave it a listen today because of this thread. Still cant get into it. Love Quick Escape, Seven O' Clock and Alright (probably hated by most). Who Ever Said would have been great but for the lull half way through which will become a clapper when played live. Superblood Wolfmoon could have been better bar the gibberish shit less than a minute in. DOC ending is a big no no, still cant get that song. Take the Long Way is just bland. Never Destination is OK.. Buckle Up is Ok.
River Cross, I had high hopes for this even though it didnt grab my attention when Eddie played it in Dublin. Hoped it would become a full band song for the album. Its just meh.Kearnsy0 -

I do think an organ solo version would have been better, but I'm glad it is on the album.
I'd get rid of Buckle Up and maybe Alright.
Definitely a better album that LB. I like it about as much as Backspacer. And I like Backspacer better than most do here.

And yes - Can’t Deny Me should definitely have been included.0 -

really like the album, such a shame that they haven’t had the chance to give it the live treatment.Melbourne #1 '98

If anything, I'd cut two songs, because albums should be about 10 tracks and 45 minutes.
Maybe Superblood Wolfmoon and Buckle Up?
But for the most part, the album is great. doesn't need and real tweaking.0 -
I do like how people not only made up tracks that don't exist, but they are having the band cop someone else's sound and not even sounds from PJs more dominant years.

IDK if it was the studios or a step in the production, recording to tape or just old mastering techniques, but those mid 90s albums (Vs- Yield) had a looseness that really complimented their sound. I feel like everything since s/t has been a bit too polished. And I get maybe thats what they want now, but I really miss that airiness of the recordings.
Gigaton, does come close to that and I really love that about this record.

This is my favorite album since yield. It will be interesting to see how the songs translate live.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

it wasn't released amid a global pandemic when no one was paying attention, nor had energy to pay attention0
