Wolf whistle...I like that term better. The tiel we had before Rocky would whistle along to the Jeopardy theme song and try the MASH theme song (he couldn't quite get that one though).Poncier said:

Mine does that too when the camera is on lol. Although, he doesn't whistle any fun songs. He does what I call the sexy whistle. Imagine the cliche of construction workers whistling at women. So, any ladies out there that need to feel pretty, Rocky will let you know lol.elwayvedder said:
It will take me a while to find it because I have hundreds of videos of him singing but he knows when the camera is on so he stops lolGlowGirl said:

@elwayvedder has a boo bird that whistles the Darth Vader song.markymark550 said:Rocky decided he wanted to say hello...well, more like scream hello, in his case.
Boo sings the Imperial March but also whistles the hook to Pearl Jam's "BLACK"...DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO!!
Our parakeet does that. Also will ask the dog "Where's your beak?" amongst many phrases.
Wife is trying to get him to sing something, hasn't taken yet
Had some success with 2 previous keets, the one in my avatar photo could sing the first line of the Oscar Mayer weiner song. And the one we had before our current one I taught to sing the last chorus of the Spongebob theme song including the whistle at the end since the TV in the room would often have Spongebob on, wanted to fool the wife into thinking he picked it up from the TV.0 -
Nice @lastexitlondon . Close to 6' I think. They don't look that big way up high.lastexitlondon said:I love birds too. Prey mainly. I was riding my bike on a farm track yesterday and a buzzard was perched on a fence i stopped and it took off about 2 feet off the ground past me. Just its wing span blew me away.
My bud spooked a vulture hanging out in a tree and it regurgitated on him. I read that they eat so much carrion when they can, so they can't fly. They just hang out to digest it all, unless you walk under the tree they have to regurgitate to be able to fly away. Must have been disgusting!!
Odd bird fact..."Believe it...or Not"0 -

We used to have a good deal of hawks and peregrines when I lived in the Fenway. I remember taking a jog around the fens while blasting some music, and I felt this rush of wind and the ground beneath my feet actually trembled. Startled out my headspace removed my headphones and saw one of those birds (too fast to determine which) pummel a squirrel on the ground a bit and take off. Pretty awesome stuff. Unless you're the squirrel, of course.
Another Boston bird story. Goddamn aggressive seagull around City Hall stole my Dunks glazed right out of my hand. Wings slapping me in the head the whole time. It was very Hitchcock.I SAW PEARL JAM0 -
It was probably a slow day at Revere Beach so one of the Kelly's gulls flew to the city to see what he could get.dankind said:

Those sonsofbitches that hang by Kelly's have no fear taking food right out of your mouth if it suits them. This weekend we rock Portland0 -

A pigeon just flew down the chimney into my front room. Talk about make me jump, I screamed and ran into the garden. I then opened the front door from outside the house and luckily it found it's way outside and flew away. Talk about freak me out! I'm gonna need to recover from this. I can see why people have a fear of birds.Post edited by Purple Fairy Tree on0

If the bird can fly in then the ambers can fly out. You need a screen on the top of that chimney.West Coast Dreamgirl said:A pigeon just flew down the chimney into my front room. Glad the pigeon didn't wreak any more havoc in your place, lol!0 -
That is interesting. I've seen the 2 headed snake but never a mixed breed sex of bird.eeriepadave said:Half male/half female cardinal photo from Pennsylvania

Yesterday I went for a quick birding trip and spotted a red bellied woodpecker, a mating pair of cardinals where the male had the sun shining on him very nicely, sparrows and some starlings. Also another bird I couldn't find but heard the damn thing.0

I’ll add this in the Wildlife thread too. Out at silver point each club here on Long Island there was a Snowy Owl sighting. One seems to come around every year and I’ve made two attempts to find it but came up short.I went out yesterday and found a she. Female snowy owl. A rare birding treat.

Awesome!!!! Do you use a scope?
Out here by a pond in nj there is a small mixed flock of ducks hanging out.
1 Hooded Merganzer
10ish ring necked ducks
2 maybe 3 wood ducks cruising the edge.
A nice treat to see.
Last year I saw mad amounts of warblers. They are cool if you get lucky when they are cruising through.

That's a beautiful snow owl. Nice shot!0
