It was all the internet's fault that she doesn't have critical thinking skills? "I was allowed to believe things that weren't true". Wrong, you read something that appealed to you and you chose to believe it. And then not only believed it, but spread it as well.

    i hate our system..

I think about this post almost ever time I see this thread.  I'm starting to think it has a lot of merit.  (I could say that about most of gimme's posts!)

Yeah, leave her in there.  She can only make her twisted faction of the Republican party look like fools.  I really feel badly for the folks who are involved in the Lincoln Project and for other moderate Republicans.  Maybe if the likes of Greene are left in place, the more intelligent members of the party will start (or continue) their own rebellion against such foolishness and we can go back to having a reasonable two parties again.
....or you let her become part of the established party and risk her becoming Trump 2.0. it's a fine line, and a risky one. the longer she's there, the more normalized she becomes. the more normalized she becomes, the easier it will be for other republicans to start latching onto some of her tactics to try to get their voices heard.
What you're describing is a recipe for disaster for the republican party.
74 million people disagree with you.
81 million, the house, the senate, and the presidency all agree with me.
i'm aware of that. we all thought the same in 2016, however. 4 years and a fickle national memory is a long time.
And 2022 is far from a guarantee that they keep the senate for sure.
after trump the senate should have been 60/40. dem's barely squeaked by with a tie breaker. and they lost house seats.

all I'm gonna say is, biden better keep fucking busy the next 2 years.
Umm, yeah, there was a below zero chance of the dems getting 60 seats no matter who the president was unless you thought they had a realistic chance of gaining seats in places like Tennessee and Wyoming and Montana lol.

Best case scenario for them was flipping maybe 6 seats. They ended up flipped 4 and gained the majority for the first time since Obama's first term. That, my friend is called a success. And, again, for the first time since Hoover, they became the first party to win back the house, senate, and presidency in a president's first time. But, sure, continue to downplay it....

The house is another story. I'll argue the fact that barely kept the house was because the republicans successfully branded all dems as socialists who wanted to get rid of police departments. That was a complete lie but it is actually an argument for the dems getting aggressive with trying to brand all republicans as crazy qanon conspiracy theorists or brand them as folks who tolerate such nonsense.

This vote today plays DIRECTLY into the democrats hands. Get them all on record and then run endless ads through 2022. Bang. Done.

I'm not downplaying anything. I'm saying that biden needs to get shit done in 2 years, because it's likely in 2 years he won't hold the majority in the senate anymore, and we all know where all the power lies. and depending on who the nom's are in 2024, it could easily swing back the white house.

I've been hearing about the "impending destruction of the GOP" for a very long time. let me know when that actually happens. trump shouldn't have gotten MORE votes than he did in 2016. but here we are.
No shit he needs get stuff done in these two years. Understatement of the decade. Most presidents lose the house in their first midterms and the senate is 50/50 so, yeah, we're not breaking any new ground here.

But you sound like Laura Ingraham or someone talking about how he got more votes.  I tuned in last night for a few minutes in time to hear her say something along the lines of ":Donald Trump's record breaking vote total.." Funny how she ignored the fact that it was MILLIONS less than his opponent. lol

And I agree with Cincy. The republican party is dead. It has splintered into multiple fractions. That is why the dems should make the crazy fraction (Maga Marge) the face of the party they want to run against. That is their best bet in the midterms. Like I said earlier, you'd want to run against the crazy conspiracy nuts like Marge as opposed to the more reasonable republicans. Bleeding votes from the suburbs is what cost the repubs and Trump the house, senate and presidency. Those folks are turned off by that nonsense. And they will again play a huge factor in two years.

edit---One other point. Yeah, Trump AND Biden's total votes were higher because more people voted last year. But Mitt Romney got 47.2% in 2012 while Trump got 46.9% in his losing effort. You want to run against maga crazy qanon. Trust me.

Yes and maybe.  Yes...the GOP we all (if we're old enough) knew is dead.  Vilifying commies (and, eventually, muslims) as a way to rally the good ol' USA, having an interest in governing, at least sometimes working for the people...that's all dead.  However, I'm not convinced that it cannot remain the #1 party in the new form of vilifying domestic enemies (libs, minorities, media, feminists, non-christians; probably a solid majority) to rally the very fine base, ruling (rather than governing), working for themselves, using fear, suppressing votes, etc. I really hope that 1) this is a recipe for losing votes and/or 2) there will be enough "sane" republicans that no large-enough party will come from it.  I'm not sure that's true. I think a Hawley/Green ticket could win in 2024 and be the future of America.

As abhorrent as Hawley is, he knows he will not be able to win with an inexperienced congresswoman who still refuses to concede that a plane flew into the Pentagon on 9/11 as his running mate. No chance in hell. Would love for for them to be stupid enough to put Marge to be in that position, but not gonna happen.

for a while i have been thinking they need to expel her from congress.

now i am thinking maybe the dems should let her stay and then use her to make money for 2022 and 2024 candidates. if they expel her she becomes a martyr and a way for the gop to fundraise vs dems in the upcoming elections.

    i hate our system..

Dem-led House, drawing a line, kicks Greene off committees
By ALAN FRAM and BRIAN SLODYSKO

WASHINGTON (AP) — A fiercely divided House tossed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene off both her committees Thursday, an unprecedented punishment that Democrats said she’d earned by spreading hateful and violent conspiracy theories.

Underscoring the political vise her inflammatory commentary has clamped her party into, nearly all Republicans voted against the Democratic move but none defended her lengthy history of outrageous social media posts.

Yet in a riveting moment, the freshman Republican from a deep-red corner of Georgia took to the House floor on her own behalf. She offered a mixture of backpedaling and finger-pointing as she wore a dark mask emblazoned with the words “FREE SPEECH.”

The chamber’s near party-line 230-199 vote was the latest instance of conspiracy theories becoming pitched political battlefields, an increasingly familiar occurrence during Donald Trump’s presidency. He faces Senate trial next week for his House impeachment for inciting insurrection after a mob he fueled with his false narrative of a stolen election attacked the Capitol.

Thursday’s fight also underscored the uproar and political complexities that Greene — a master of provoking Democrats, promoting herself and raising campaign money — has prompted since becoming a House candidate last year.

Embattled Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who's facing a House vote to strip her of committee assignments, says she regrets some “words of the past,” but she's not specifically apologizing for racist and violent rhetoric. (Feb. 4)

Addressing her colleagues, Greene tried to dissociate herself from her “words of the past.” Contradicting past social media posts, she said she believes the 9-11 attacks and mass school shootings were real and no longer believes QAnon conspiracy theories, which include lies about Democratic-run pedophile rings.

But she didn’t explicitly apologize for supportive online remarks she’s made on other subjects, as when she mulled about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi being assassinated or the possibility of Jewish-controlled space rays causing wildfires. And she portrayed herself as the victim of unscrupulous “big media companies.”

News organizations “can take teeny, tiny pieces of words that I’ve said, that you have said, any of us, and can portray us as someone that we’re not,” she said. She added that “we’re in a real big problem” if the House punished her but tolerated “members that condone riots that have hurt American people” — a clear reference to last summer’s social justice protests that in some instances became violent.

Greene was on the Education and Labor, and Budget, committees. Democrats were especially aghast about her assignment to the education panel, considering the past doubt she cast on school shootings in Florida and Connecticut.

The political imperative for Democrats was clear: Greene’s support for violence and fictions were dangerous and merited punishment. Democrats and researchers said there was no apparent precedent for the full House removing a lawmaker from a committee, a step usually taken by their party leaders.

The calculation was more complicated for Republicans.

Though Trump left the White House two week ago, his devoted followers are numerous among the party’s voters, and he and Greene are allies. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., hopes GOP victories in the 2022 elections will make him speaker. Republicans could undermine that scenario by alienating Trump’s and Greene’s passionate supporters, and McCarthy took no action to punish her.

“If any of our members threatened the safety of other members, we’d be the first ones to take them off a committee,” Pelosi angrily told reporters. She said she was “profoundly concerned” about GOP leaders’ acceptance of an “extreme conspiracy theorist.”

“The party of Lincoln is becoming the party of violent conspiracy theories, and apparently the leaders of the Republican Party in the House today are not going to do a damned thing about it,” said Rep. James McGovern, D-Mass.

Republicans tread carefully but found rallying points.

McCarthy said Greene’s past opinions “do not represent the views of my party.” But without naming the offenders, he said Pelosi hadn’t stripped committee memberships from Democrats who became embroiled in controversy. Among those he implicated was Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who made anti-Israel insults for which she later apologized.

“If that’s the new standard,” he said of Democrats’ move against Greene, “we have a long list.”

Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., said Democrats were setting a precedent by punishing lawmakers for statements made before they were even candidates for Congress. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, warned, “You engage in wrong-speak, you’re in the Thunder Dome,” a term for an enclosed wrestling arena.

Committee assignments are crucial for lawmakers for shaping legislation affecting their districts, creating a national reputation and raising campaign contributions. Even social media stars like Greene could find it harder to define themselves without the spotlights that committees provide.

Not all Republicans were in forgiving moods, especially in the Senate. There, fringe GOP candidates have lost winnable races in recent years and leaders worry a continued linkage with Trump and conspiracists will inflict more damage.

That chamber’s minority leader, Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., this week called Greene’s words a “cancer” on the GOP and country. On Thursday, No. 2 Senate GOP leader John Thune of South Dakota amplified that thinking.

Thune said House Republicans needed to issue a “really strong” rebuke of Greene’s conspiratorial formulations. Republicans must “get away from members dabbling in conspiracy theories,” Thune said. “I don’t think that’s a productive course of action or one that’s going to lead to much prosperity politically in the future.”

The fight came a day after Republicans resolved another battle and voted to keep Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., in their leadership. Pro-Trump conservatives tried removing her because she supported Trump's impeachment.

The House resolution punishing Greene was barely over a page. It said House rules require lawmakers’ behavior to “reflect credibly” on the chamber and said Greene should be removed “in light of conduct she has exhibited.”

News organizations have unearthed countless social media videos and “likes” in which Greene embraced absurd theories like suspicions that Hillary Clinton was behind the 1999 death of John F. Kennedy Jr. Greene responded, “Stage is being set,” when someone posted a question about hanging Clinton and former President Barack Obama.

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said, "Don't mind, but what do you mean, I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the rotunda?"
She said I am the one
Who will dance on the floor, in the rotund
    a
She told me her name was Marjorie Greene
    As she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of bein' the one

Who will dance on the floor in the rotunda
People always told me, "Be careful of what you do
Don't go around breakin' young boys' hearts" (Hee-hee)

And mother always told me, "Be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do (Oh-oh)
'Cause the lie becomes the truth" (Oh-oh)

Marjorie Greene is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one (Oh, baby)
But Matt Getts is not my son, hoo!
She says I am the one (Oh, baby)
But Matt Getts is not my son (Hee-hee-hee, no-no-no, hee-hee-hee)

For forty days and for forty nightsthe law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand?

    Her schemes and plans
'Cause we danced on the floor in the rotunda, hee!

So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(Don't think twice) Do think twice! (A-hoo!)

She told my baby we'd danced till three, then she looked at me
Then showed a photo of Lindsey a cryin', his eyes were like mine (Oh, no)
'Cause we danced on the floor in the rotunda, baby
    (Ooh, hee-hee-hee)

    Hee!
    Hoo!

People always told me, "Be careful of what you do
And don't go around breakin' young boys' hearts"
    (Don't break no hearts!) (Hee-hee)

But she came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet Qerfume (Ha-oh)
This happened much too soon (Ha-oh, ha-ooh)
She called me to her room (Ha-oh, hoo!)

Marjorie Greene is not my lover (Hoo!)
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But Matt Getts is not my son
    No-no-no, no-no-no-no-no-no (Hoo!)
Marjorie Greene is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one (Oh baby)

But Matt Getts is not my son (Oh, no, no)
She says I am the one (Oh baby)
But Matt Getts is not my son (No, hee-hee!)

    Ah, hee-hee-hee!
    Hee! Hoo!

She says I am the one (You know what you did)
She says Matt Getts is my son (Breakin' my heart, babe)
She says I am the one

Marjorie Greene is not my lover
Marjorie Greene is not my lover
Marjorie Greene is not my lover (Don't call me Marjorie Greene) (Hoo!)

11 Republicans voted to eject her from the education committee. Bigger number than I thought. Love that it was bipartisan.
i am not sure if this really accomplishes anything. she is still in the house. still has a voice. still has a vote. now she is pissed off and is going to go more batshit and raise a BUNCH of money from this. they needed to expel her from the house.

The raising money thing is true but that was true anyway. Well, crazy is as crazy does. But now she has no influence on any committee votes or legislation. She can't get whacko Qanon shit into bills. She has no power, no prestige and nobody has to horse trade with her for a vote to move legislation out of committee. And if this winds up the crazy, puts it on full display, it makes repubs look even worse and becomes more the face of the party. She's just a vote and a poster child for cray-cray, with no place in a political body steeped in civil discourse and respect. Let them whine. The reasonable will understand. The 35%? Not so much. And they weren't going to anyway.

for a while i have been thinking they need to expel her from congress.

now i am thinking maybe the dems should let her stay and then use her to make money for 2022 and 2024 candidates. if they expel her she becomes a martyr and a way for the gop to fundraise vs dems in the upcoming elections.

    i hate our system..

Trust me.

but a TON has changed since 2012,  trump polarized the white vote to lock in very white states OH & IA for the GOP and FL is almost untouchable for Dems. While GA, AZ and WI are nearly 50/50.

The republicans are going nowhere. 75% believe the lies, and no one is willing to stand up to R voters. They’d rather have peace at the thanksgiving table. That’s why the GOP is going nowhere.

I'd take offense if someone tried to compare me to Ingraham too.  Just sayin.

I know she is nuts but I want to read the tweets.  Anyone have an article?

Someone mentioned above about making her the face of Q and the rep party?  That is already being done.  Was it Pelosi that said 'McCarthy has made Qanon the GOP party'?

Literally googled "MGT deleted tweets" and I get stories of them being deleted or her being paused on twitter for 12 hours. No screen shots of any of them.

My next rabbit hole is to find her FB deleted material.

They were not all tweets. It’s Facebook stuff, speaking gigs, and weird videos she made.
