Yep, the guy is nothing special. Any dude can reach 14 championship games, 9 Super Bowls and win 6 of them, anyone.
Something that will probably never be repeated in any sport from here on out.

They hadn't played well the second half of the season but they were great last night.  That's the team that embarrassed the packers earlier this year.  When David and White are flying around,  look out.

I didn't say he's nothing special. I was insinuating that game was nothing special. You let that comment hit you too deep.

Yeah he was not able to push the ball down the field yesterday.  The Bucs really didn’t have to worry about the ball going over their heads.

Poor coaching -- their best WR was not even in the game plan.  Look at KC...everyone knows they are going to involve kid-beater, and they find creative ways to get the ball to him anyway.  This is what good coaching does.

    Michael Thomas -- 4 targets, 0 catches.

You said he succeeded through his teammates interceptions, and the important part...":Nothing new". So yeah, your inference was clear.

I mean it's not the first time his defense has won a playoff game for him while he was mediocre. So yea, it is nothing new. In fact his defense has won him quite a few games in the playoffs. I would even go as far as he owes a couple of his rings to his defense. Whether he's special or not still has nothing to do with what I said. Why are you being so defensive of him? Lol

Considering where he went to college, I would say not.  Good luck to the team that wastes a draft pick on Justin Fields.

Was just saying Ohio pumps out a decent amount of talented players in other positions. Unless the Giants draft them. Eli Apple was an incredible waste of a top-10 pick.

In terms of QBUs, Oklahoma and Clemson seem to be doing ok the last few years.

So this new Lions coach is a real meathead huh?  That was quite an introductory press conference....and they gave him a 6 year deal.  That's pretty wild for a first time head coach.
  • MayDay10MayDay10 Posts: 10,876
"6 years" made me perk up.

Campbell is an odd choice I think.  If Im an NFL team, Im going with one of the OCs like Dabol, Bienemy, or McDaniels.

Campbell is great if you think we are still watching 50s and 60s smashmouth football.

It sounds like he checks all the boxes with trying to install 'culture' and all that... but being an attention whore on day one isnt a great indicator that it is going to work out.  Plus... the Lions.

I liked Campbell when he was the Dolphins' interim coach. Definitely doesn't seem like an Xs and Os guy, but the type that players want to run through a wall for. But if he could surround himself with the right Xs and Ox guys, he could be successful. Six years is ridiculous though. I can't see him lasting that long. I base that on the past 30 years of Lions football.

So one for Clemson, 2 for OU, is that the number?  *Two*?  Am I missing a QB?  Jalen Hurts is good?  Landry Jones?  Trevor Knight?  Sam Bradford?  These are all superstars.  The only school that I can think of that had three qbs starting at one time, best I can recall, is Michigan State.  So by that logic, a draft evaluator should put a Sparty QB in the mix by virtue of the jersey he wears.

Hopefully he does. As a 49er fan, I have experience with Mike Singletary being a head coach who could light up a locker room, but had questionable at best coordinators. The results weren't pretty.

Yeah we did cover that a while back.  Not any good QBs in recent times.  Homers can argue it but there is no case to be made.
They certainly do crank everywhere else, though.
