I'd argue it's been the Republicans' logical evolution in their approach to basically everything over the last ~50 years..
I should have said 40... many point to Reagan as being the turning point.

I'm no political expert, feel free to correct.
Yeah, I'm on a big Roger Ailes kick reading 'Loudest Voice in the Room', so I'm not saying you're wrong 'cause you're not. But Ailes and Nixon really stick out for me. Nixon was so fucking craven and I don't think he gets over the hump without Ailes.
I need to read a lot more.
It's an awesome fucking book. It's thick - half the book is citations, really well researched. I had to put it down just because how big it is, but my wife wanted to watch a movie so we gave Bombshell a whirl. She liked it, and it wasn't that bad, and it made me pick up the book again.

Whoa!  Just woke up.  I'm seeing several of you here celebrating both wins for Dems in GA.  Great news that Warnock has won but I'm reading that the other election- Ossoff vs Perdue- is too close to call.  Celebrating too soon maybe?

Should end up winning by more than Biden's margin. Those 2022 elections are going to be tough to win if the GOP actually has someone less corrupt than Perdue and Loeffler to run against them. Hopefully what they do the next 2 years earns them votes, but like someone else mentioned, it seems people are entrenched as either republican or democrat with very little left in the middle; however, those middles may be the reason for the narrow wins. Basically they need to analyze the shit out of that 20,000 - 40,000 voter population and figure out how to keep them or flip them if they went the other way.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I've seen too many weird things happen in elections over the years.  I'm with y'all, but I'll celebrate when it's called.  Should be later this morning.

CNN or MSNBC had the voter registration demographics for Georgia on the screen last night by age bracket, race and registered party affiliations. Independent or non-affiliated was the largest of the dem, repub, Indy. Age wise, two categories that encompassed 24-56, I think. That’s the focus for the next two years. And Wornock and Ossoff are seated for 6 years, I think?

Warnock's race was a special since the shithead lady stepped in for someone else. He will have to run in another 2 years.

I'd argue it's been the Republicans' logical evolution in their approach to basically everything over the last ~50 years..
I should have said 40... many point to Reagan as being the turning point.

I'm no political expert, feel free to correct.
I've always saw the 94 congress as the turning point.

Nixon, southern strategy. tge turning began there. Newt shut the door on governance and it became exclusively about powrt and upward wealth distribution

The southern strategy was to convert the solid south to the GOP.  Using race as a wedge wasn't new.  Nor was the South voting as a block.  In 94, the politics of personal destruction and eliminating compromise took root. I blame Newt and Rush.

No, and I bet the fight it every way they possibly can, if for no other reason than to delay/reduce the time that the Senate can be filled.  Much like they did with Franken in 2008.

They have an objection to the certification of electors by a rep and a senator so they are required to recess and discuss before returning. All show.
