Georgia has set the standard here.  Turnout and caring.

People cannot be complacent for 2022 or 2024.... and shouldn't be complacent for 2021 or 2023 either.  You know damn well that the Trump cult and the Proud Boyz arent going to be complacent.  The minute we fall asleep again, we will fall back into the Trump abyss.  It needs to be vanquished forever, and frankly, the Republican Party needs to be minimized to West Virginia and Wyoming... that is unless they actually create a platform and live by some sort of decency.

Ab-so-fucking-lutely. That's why people like Abrams need to be in charge. Turnout and caring comes from a local grassroots level, which she sees. Everyone needs to push the national Dem party/DNC to just hand over fist fulls of cash over to state and municipal-level Dem orgs/individuals with a track record.

I'm curious about what tRump's next move will be after he's out of office.  The GOP is going to have a big decision to make.  If he tries to stretch this shit out like he's going to run again in 2024 the party will continue on a downward spiral.  And they know that.

I'm guessing they will kick him to the curb pretty quickly.

I hope that Dems will finally learn that now is the time to get things done and pass legislation.  Don’t worry about the election in two years.  Pass meaningful legislation and ram it through the way republicans have.  All the dem wishlist points, we have two years let’s smash it. There is no guarantee that republicans don’t come roaring back into the 2022 senate.  I hope the loss of power destroys McConnel

They are in a tough spot.

I truly think they believe they will be able to keep tiptoeing around him and Paul Ryan or Cruz will be able to get the nomination in 2024 and things will return to 'normal'.
The problem is, trump and his family very much want 2024 and congressional seats.  if anyone says anything critical, trump will have his masses primary them and install some sort of Qanon idiot.  When the primary starts, the likes of Ryan or Cruz will be a bug on the windshield.
They cant just wait this out expecting it to fade.  I really think they need a large-scale movement to reject trump which will likely uproot our national political system (which actually would be a good thing).

The problem is that 50 would require 100% if democrat buy-in and that is tenuous at best.  Manchin from WV is basically a Republican and is always vulnerable.  he will vote against a lot of the general 'wish list'.

At least now Biden will get to put together his cabinet, likely pass stimulus, things like election security, possible marijuana legalization, etc.

Win a few more seats in 2022 and we could really see some things come into play like statehood for DC and PR, extra supreme court seat(s), etc...

Trump is not going anywhere in the Republican Party. He will have a significant influence over their elections.

It's on the Dem Party to realize this and stick their thumbs in every wound they can.

I don't expect the Dem Party to go crazy left, but getting through a better healthcare plan and a better approach to the pandemic makes me fucking giddy on their own. Send green-based jobs to the Rust Belt en masse. Things like this should be able to happen.

i was thinking about this too. a lot of people are thinking this is a slam dunk for passing all of the democrat ideas, but there are enough center right democrats that won't go for the gun control and M4A agendas.

the biggest difference is that McConnell would prevent anything from seeing the Senate floor which protected his potentially-vulnerable Republicans from going on-record with voting.

Now, things will hit the floor, and when Senators vote against things like stimulus $ for small business, flags for orphans, or just routine machinations of keeping a functional Federal government... those become data points for the case against them in 2022.

I don't think Mitch retires, no way. He's been quoted in the past saying how much pain he can withstand. He's awful. Now, someone like Susan Collins I can see calling it quits.

I worry that Manchin or another dem Senator might be enticed to switch parties by Moscow Mitchy Baby offering up plum committee assignments and chairmanships.

The dems need to improve health care and target tax cuts for those in the $30-$70K range, Jack taxes on corporations and the top 1-5% and micro target infrastructure investment and green initiatives to vulnerable dem districts and red districts that can flip. Create jobs, deal with the pandemic, pay attention to the middle and call out the traitorous and seditious at every turn. Mend fences with Europe and Asia, open markets and reduce barriers to trade. And get cracking!

Way to appease Manchin and the rest of Rust Belt USA - invest in new infrastructual and energy grid jobs (read: Green energy and cleaner transportation). You give his electorate well-paying jobs that actually have a future and he's rewarded. This goes hand-in-hand for me along with healthcare and pandemic-related fiscal stimulus. This gets you going in the right direction and can be done in a moderate Dem Senate.

Fuck that. I'll take a Dem overbalance all day, every day until the Republican Party is officially extinct. Trying to normalize the idea of a Dem imbalance with a Republican imbalance is ridiculous. Neutrality does not equate Objectivity. If people don't like imbalance and corruption then they should support Rank Choice Voting, campaign finance reform, and voting every election (primaries and generals). Until then I'll take reason and pragmatism over extremism & single-issue voterss.

Everything's on the Dems side right now, but as has been voiced: there will be some mix of them fucking it up and people being brain dead with amnesia. A couple years from now they'll be living better yet they'll blame Dems and vote for Republicans so they can make sure they get $5 more in their paycheck. Dems only get these opportunities when everything is absolutely fucked - they'll clean up the Republicans' mess, and then everyone will point a finger at the Dems. Rinse and repeat.

Pre Obama I would have agreed with this statement, but considering the way the GOP has behaved in the last 15 years, I have no problem w/ dems controlling all 3 for the next 2 years. Truth be told, I think it's the only possible way for this country to move forward at this point.

I may eat those words in the next 24 months, but after the last 4 years I don't think anything would get accomplished if the republicans maintained the house... it would be constant pushback & stonewalling against Biden's "illegitimate" presidency.

what McConnell does, does not allow for a functional federal government.  That is the problem.  The entire thing is a power-game as far as he is concerned.  This got its start under Newt Gingrich, but McConnell is the evil palpatine version of that.

The GOP's approach to government over the last 30 years is that we don't need one, and they've convinced their base that this is true.

Yeah, I'm on a big Roger Ailes kick reading 'Loudest Voice in the Room', so I'm not saying you're wrong 'cause you're not. But Ailes and Nixon really stick out for me. Nixon was so fucking craven and I don't think he gets over the hump without Ailes.
