PRS Silver Sky review
I've had this guitar several days now and here are my thoughts. First off, this particular guitar was the recipient of unfair bias before it was even released by stratocaster purists who cried out against PRS attempting a guitar with the same body style. These people must either be high or fairly uneducated seeing as how there are literally thousands of guitars on earth that have body styles similar to or inspired by the fender strat. Others just wanted to hate it because they don't like John Mayer. Whatever, they can hate all they want. After playing it a few days I am in love with this guitar. It's a perfect blend of old school and modern, sounds fantastic, looks great, and stays in tune. I love that the neck is a little fatter than typical strat neck and the bird inlays look great. The setup was spot on out of the box with no intonation, action, or relief issues. The pickups are vintage voiced and I would describe them as having the sought after "glassy" strat tone. They are not high output but handle rock, blues, country and other genres that are not in metal terrain very well. It's plays very smoothy as well. I have no problem reaching the upper frets and the 7.25 radius seems to scare away some but PRS have done a great job with this board because I have no problem with bends. If I were to compare it to my strat I would say that the quality feels a little more premium on the silver sky. Play one if you have the opportunity. They're great instruments.Virginia Beach 2000

Used to have that Riviera with Bigsby. Beautiful guitar, but I couldn't ever get comfortable with it around my 5'8 frame, haha! Traded it in for an American Tele. My first Fender since 15 years old.

1998 Fender Standard Mexico strat
i let my brother borrow it 15 years ago. I picked it up Over the holidays to start learning how repair guitars myself. It was unusable. The neck was badly bowed. You couldn’t play any notes past the 15th fret or so. I know it is minor stuff to adjust the truss rod but I had never done it. Was fun to get a guitar in that shape to be playable again. Now I love playing it.0 -
New arrival. Wasn’t too excited about the heritage cherry but in person it looks sharp. Was thinking maybe black would look better.

Just finished my first ever build. LP-style kit from Stew Mac. Finish is sea foam green from Ohio Valley Nitro. Scrapped the kit pickups for Bootstrap Pickups’ Bootstrap Buckers - Vintage Cleans in raw nickel; went with alnico 4 in the neck and 5 in the bridge (these guys work out of a garage and seem to be generating some underground buzz; they are located in Mt. Gilead, OH which is 20 minutes from my hometown, so figured I’d give them a shot). Tuners are Grover 135N and also swapped out the kit knobs for these speed knobs. Went back and forth on the Bigsby, and then it was backordered for 3 months after I decided to go with it. I’m not exactly thrilled with how it fits, but installed it with Vibramate in the event I want to take it off in the future. Currently strung with Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt, but probably will try some others as this is my first guitar with a Bigsby (open to any recommendations). Strap is from Original Fuzz. Now time to break this thing in!
