Why Should a Republican Voter Turn Around After Four Years of Being Labled and Give Joe a Chance?

Hmmm, a thread placing Trump and Biden on the same playing ground. I'm not sure how anyone would even come up with that alternate reality. Biden is by no means perfect and will most likely be an average president, but he at least doesn't seek to divide, name call, play victim, deny science, blatantly lie constantly, spew unfounded conspiracies, treat women like dirt, etc.
I'm sorry, who needs to extend an olive branch here? It's a hopeless situation...0 -
MayDay10 said:If people can admit that Donald Trump was a terrible idea, does nothing but bring out the worst in us, and basically has shown zero ability or even willingness to lead, then I think a reasonable olive branch can be forged and discussion can be had. Outside of fringe 'news' sources, the damage this fool is doing is clear as day.
If we are still defending Trump through all this, along with hiding behind boogeymen and conspiracy theories like "radical leftists"... then the bridge is still too far. Stay with the cletuses.0 -
And don’t give Biden a chance. Who cares? And if dems are offering olive branches it’s because that’s how we are. The people offering you them probably are hoping you don’t accept it, faking it like all the republicans have done about their disgust for minorities for hundreds of years.0

I have never voted for the racist far-right party in Sweden so maybe I am naive, maybe it is harder to not support xenophobia, racism, transphobia, climate change denying than I thought and have been brought up to believe.

Where does this mob go from here?
I’m done taking bullshit from trump supporters and your playbook you all use for responses. I call assholes who don’t wear a mask in public what they are....assholes and if they dare say anything back I really get loud - I’m done being politically correct.0 -

You clearly supported and still support an openly racist "president", an openly racist regime with openly racist and xenophobic policies.
When you support a racist in any way shape or form, including voting, that makes you a racist as well.
You want an olive branch? How about you stand up and admit how wrong it was to support the most corrupt, the biggest liar, the most homophobic, misogynistic, racist, xenophobic, and anti-american "president" ever.
Now explain how you can openly support such a hideous inhumane person and regime and yet claim support for an openly Liberal Democrat supporting band?
Seems hypocritical.0 -

But after four years in which I've seen a president taken out of context, heard about Russia for four years, heard how terrible and uneducated we all must be, and have been demonized; but now I'm supposed to pretend like you are my friends and we are going to move forward? How does that work? I say Biden won, I don't buy into any conspiracy theory. Just like I don't think most democrats want to defund the police. But why, after four years should people like me all of a sudden welcome any olive branch from the same people that were beyond divisive from day one and constantly lumped me into every negative category they could think of? I honestly ask why?
The man is not a far left socialist as Trump tried to paint him.
He has always been very close to the middle, obviously with a bit of a leftward lean. He has also had a history of working across the aisle. So that would be why you should consider giving him a chance.
He's not a "radical leftist", no matter how many times Trump said he was. This weekend we rock Portland0 -

But why, after four years should people like me all of a sudden welcome any olive branch from the same people that were beyond divisive from day one and constantly lumped me into every negative category they could think of? I honestly ask why?Right. The administration literally demonized me every day. Not the followers,* but Trump himself, the GOP, and many GOP personnel. For the last four years, the primary enemy in America has not only been our own countrymen/women, but nearly half of us. The left. The media. The "experts." Trump's true genius is in getting his devotees to feel like victims. And now you're acting like one.*Well the followers, too and even worse, but my point was that at least Biden's not going to demonize you. Do you think the left is the enemy of America? If not, you might be in the minority.Look, you said it yourself, most Democrats don't want to defund the police. Jackasses on twitter calling everyone nazis has nothing to do with Biden and nothing to do with the way very many Americans behave. Get over it. Some people are jerks. If we want the country to come together we have to stop thinking of so many of our own residents as the enemy. The left is the enemy right now, almost in an official way. If Biden is inaugurated, the "officialness" goes down but Trumpism is alive and well and it thrives on domestic enemies. To the loudest conservatives, I will remain the enemy just like to the loudest liberals, you'll remain a racist. Big deal. Stop acting like a victim. You're not.The United States is probably as divided as it's ever been...certainly in any of our lifetimes. But if you choose to try to continue that divide because a few people called you names, then you're doing just that, choosing to remain divided.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

VS
"Overreaching leftist ideas"Similarly, several reports have listed Scandinavian and other social-democratic countries as ranking high on indicators such as civil liberties,[493] democracy,[494] press,[495] labour and economic freedoms,[496] peace[497] and freedom from corruption.[498] Numerous studies and surveys indicate that people tend to live happier lives in countries ruled by social-democratic parties, compared to countries ruled by neoliberal, centrist and right-wing governments.[499]
So, overreaching leftist ideas - freedom from corruption and citizens being happy
Goodguy Trump with his non-reaching rightist ideas - finally some needed corruption and miserable people?

The fact that trump still hasn’t acted like an adult and conceded or been forced to proves that all republicans in all departments of government are gutless pukes. There you go, a new name for those who don’t have the balls to face the pig in office or answer our questions...gutless pukes0

the same reason we should be asking where was the olive branch when we were being called snowflakes, fuck your feelings, terrorists, thugs, communists, baby murderers, and the like?
it does go both ways.
I don't know which thread it was in, but i posted yesterday or the day before that i personally don't believe in mass-labelling. it's not necessarily about extending an olive branch to those across the aisle from you, at this point, it might be more effective to deal with your own house of dicks and stop them from being so fucking ignorant and angry at "the other side". i try to do that. i do it here, and i do it in analog life.
opposing sides won't listen to each other anymore. it's going to take the reasonable people on each side to calm down their own.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0 -

You, like so many Republicans these days, are clueless about what "leftist ideas" are. Do you have any idea how few people in America are truly "leftist"? This is right up there with the nonsense of people calling Biden "a socialist". Educate yourself, young man or woman (sorry I don't know which you are)."Uneducated"? You said it and have proven it.And what's this nonsense about "most Democrats want to defund the police"? Again, clueless and or/ inflammatory language. Get real.Post edited by brianlux on"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
